Like being on the receiving end of our 1-6 away win in Ruud’s 2nd Season as coach.
Having been there that day, my memory of the game was we had 7 shots the whole match and scored with 6 of them. (I could be wrong)
Yesterday I felt the difference was superior finishing and a bit of naivety on our part.
I wasn’t embarrassed with how we played. I was embarrassed with how we played when we lost both league matches to City under Conte and Sarri. I wasn’t yesterday. As soon as I saw the line up, I was a mixture of emotions and felt it had the potential to either be really great or really bad (result wise) on the day.
As Frankie implied in his own article…………This season is going to be a rollercoaster. But I have a feeling we’re going to be just fine.
I have said that this season on paper will be worse than our season of “Sarri Ball". But thank goodness for the transfer ban, because if we don’t take this route now, then when?
If the club and fans back Super Frank and the route he’s taking us down, it is going to benefit the club long term.
Look at Pool under Klopp. It’s sometimes easy to forget they’ve taken time from when he took over to get to where they are now.
As Frankie said, we’re most likely to take a few tankings this season. We’re going to have to be patient. I believe Super Frank will get it right and when we click we will click.

I know it was over 20 years ago now, but my memory of the win against Spurs is we weren’t 5 goals better than them and it just seemed every time we shot, we scored on the day.
And I do think it would be easy to kid ourselves that Klopp transformed Pool overnight. Its 4 years come October.
I hope Roman and the board have got the courage to see this through, because I think it has to be short term pains for long term gains. Forgive the cliché

Is it just me or is Azpi slowly becoming a liability (can't fault his effort and commitment though)? He has lost so much pace in the last couple of seasons that teams are consistently exploiting his side.
I eagerly await Reece James' return and getting blended into the team.

I fear you're right, sad to say. It's always sad to see such a great player and club servant become cruelly exposed for pace. It's started to cause him to accumulate quite a few cards over the last 12 months.
I have a suspicion that when James returns from injury he'll slowly usurp Dave from the RB position.

I was one of the privileged few that were there that day (our official allocation was only about 300 or 600 that day) coz Spurs were building the upper tier of the Paxton and to this day it remains my second greatest day at Football ever, second only to Munich.

I was putting a new engine in my old Peugeot 405 in the car club at the Clyde Submarine base in Scotland and had the game on the radio.
What I'd have given to have been 450 miles further south that day!

A mate of mine couldn't get an away ticket for that game so was in with the home fans. He was laughing because they were yelling at their team "you are s**t" and he was joining in. How he managed to keep quiet when we scored I don't know.

I've heard stories about that. There were little pockets of Chelsea all over the Stadium and one story I heard is that some them actually started booing at the end and were pissing themselves when a lot of the Tottenham faithful started joining them.
In all honesty it was exactly as Flash said in the OP, there wasn't that much difference between the 2 teams on the day, it's just that when one team can do no wrong (even Mark Nicholls scored ) and the other is out of luck then the score can end up looking artificial.
