Tunnocks Teacake Farce Cup

The abomination continues and various diddy colt teams were pumped out last night, which was pleasing. I think we're down to about a quarter of the colt teams left after two games.

I'm pleased to say that the Celtic colts were put out last night. They lost on penalties to Falkirk. "Oh, a creditable draw against high flying League 1 side Falkirk?" I hear you say. No. It was a draw against a Falkirk reserve and youth side. They would have been annihilated by the Falkirk first team. Let's not kid ourselves. Aberdeen and Rangers Colts went through, sadly.

Results:

Stenhousemuir 2 Edinburgh 1
Stranraer 0 Rangers 2
Falkirk 1 Celtic 1 (6-5)
Dumbarton 0 St Mirren 1
Hamilton 0 Airdrie 1
Annan 1 Kelty 1 (5-6)
Clyde 4 Motherwell 0
Montrose 2 Forfar 1
Brechin 4 Elgin 5
East Fife 0 Stirling 2
Peterhead 0 Formartine 0 (6-7)
Brora 1 Cove 2
Ross Co 2 Raith 3
Hearts 3 Cowdenbeath 1

The draw for the next round has been completed and you'd think that the introduction of the Championship teams would add a bit of respectability about it. Don't be silly. Because this round also includes the non-Scottish clubs to devalue it further.

3rd round draw:

•Connah’s Quay Nomads vs Cove Rangers
•Stenhousemuir vs The New Saints
•Waterford vs Hearts Colts
•Airdrie vs Bohemians
•Wrexham vs Ayr United
•Kelty Hearts vs Solihull Moors
•Ballymena United vs Rangers Colts
•Formartine United vs Glenavon
•Inverness Caley Thistle vs Greenock Morton
•Montrose vs Partick Thistle
•St Mirren Colts vs Stirling Albion
•Dundee United vs Arbroath
•Clyde vs Queen of the South
•Raith Rovers vs Falkirk
•Dundee vs Elgin City
•Dunfermline Athletic vs Alloa Athletic

A home draw is of course damaging for all these clubs as ultimately they will make a loss from this horrorshow of a cup. Every club would have wanted an away tie. I hope our youth team (because there's no way our first team will be anywhere near this) have a good run out against our Championship local rivals.

Glad to see nobody gives a feck about this competition. Good stuff.

I really hope Cove Rangers win, just to rub it in Killie's faces. Nothing against Killie, I just think it'd be hilarious.

(Also that sentence was one "Cove" away from making me feel really dirty).

Falkirk v Celtic Colts on Tuesday

I make that 8 changes from the team that started in the league.

I don't think we can argue that Falkirk put out their strongest XI, can we?

They played Dumbarton on Saturday 10th and Celtic two days ago. Those were the teams.

They made 8 changes.

You can't seriously say that was the first team?

My fear is that it is used as an argument to justify the inclusion of colt teams in the league system, which would be a nonsense.
