is Scottish football now? With Celtic losing yet again in the qualifiers of the CL, a team that dominates their league, what sort of level is Scottish football at? I would say lower Championship at best, maybe even Division One standard.
No team other than Celtic or Rangers have won their title since 1984/85, which shows an incredible lack of competition, 35 seasons and only two winners. In fact going back even further, only four seasons since season 1965/66 have teams other than Celtic or Rangers won the title, 55 years and only two other title winners, other than Celtic or Rangers.
Not their fault I know, but really winning the amount of domestic trophies Celtic win every year means absolutely nothing. The standard is shockingly low. Not sure how the Scottish Leagues can ever be reformed to make any sort of competitive league.
Shame really, when I started to watch football, Scottish footie was of a very high standard, almost on par with the English game. Money obviously has played a big part in the chasm between English and Scottish football, but give the Scottish Prem the same amount of money, and would any of the other teams really benefit, or would Celtic and Rangers still dominate?
Away from the Prem, how good

Couldn’t agree more Sandy. I put up an article last year about how awful the league is and how is must be really boring winning the league every single year, without any direct competition whatsoever. Ok, Rangers have slowly crept up again, but Celtic are still winning the league year on year out, then getting knocked out the CL qualifying stages to some European farmers. It’s just horrendous the quality of the league. Celtic and Rangers in current format are championship lower level at best. The rest of the league is our equilivant of league 2.

You couldn't name a Hibs player or an Aberdeen player but you know the quality of the league, you can compare it to your diddy leagues.
Personally I don't support a league, I support a club.

Hahahahaha
Yeah it’s really boring winning football trophies when you play football and your sole aim is gone in football trophies.
I’d much rather watch my team get beat at crucial moments when it comes to winning football trophies. I sometimes wonder why we play football.
ffs. It’s like reading of a tramp sitting outside your own little house criticising your curtains.
We can all but wait with bated breath for your next thrilling instalment on your views on a league and fans you know sweet fwck all about. But yeah. We’re bored.

Why do I need to be an expert on Scottish football you dope ? I can see from my very own eyes how extremely poor it is. The fact that you support both Villa and Celtic is pretty telling really. Make your mind up son, Celtic Boring you ???
A p** poor league where you are smashing teams most weeks, yet getting knocked out of the CL qualifying stages by some European part timers.... ohhh hoe thrilling
After a while, the sensation must start to disappear when the league is so bloody poor. City are currently the big guns in our league, but atleast the Prem is competitive. Winning games actually means something. Winning games in Scotland is the equilivant of a top team in the Premierleague beating league 2 opposition each week. Awful league, thank f** I don’t have to put up with watching it weekly like you do.

Nah nothing like that. If anything, Celtic are the tramp getting a McDonald’s once a year. The rest of the time, having to make do with a s** life not amounting to much anywhere else

Wowee
Not only do you embarrass yourself by taking a pot shot at a league you know absolutely nothing whatsoever about you extrapolate that into my life being s**t and not amounting to anything?
What a fud you really are. An ignorant and arrogant one at that.
Commenting on a football team from another league when your club last lifted a trophy when?
Angry little man aren’t you?

cant just blame money
before money came along , scotland produced the likes of
Dalglish, souness, gemill, Archibald bremner law, jordan, busby , mcoist stein etc etc
They just are not producing any class players ..
Funding , coaching , diet , ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you can easily include all 3 to be honest. But then again financial limits means we can’t spend the money on facilities and coaches. But then again we didn’t depend on them to produce decent players in the past.
Local authorities selling off playing fields and schools no longer engaging in out of hours sports is also a huge factor over the last 25 years or so. Again finance.
Bit of a sign of the times with kids having “better” things to do and the notions of ridiculous expectations.
It’s a downward spiral.
