How I see it

Ok, we have negotiated the first home game quite successfully and learnt in the process that we can't have Lamela in the playmaker role. Instead, I think we need to play the great Dane from the start. Eriksen starts for me. Another we learnt is that however well Sanchez plays with the partnership of Toby, it can't beat the natural understanding between the two super Belgians, Toby and Jan . Therefore, looking at the vast experience that he has and his wave length being on the same frequency as Toby's, Verts starts for me.

Of course, a fit and raring to go Kane is always a starter - not matter what. Therefore Kane starts too.

We don't have much choice on the left hand side of our defense, for me, Rose whenever fit takes the place. Rose starts.
We have three defenders, we will add another full back.
KwP played pretty well against Villa, although left the space behind exposed few time. His forward play was exactly the right calibre in terms of attacking prowess and delivery of the ball. However, against Sterling, you cannot risk a young player who is still learning. I would leave KwP out. For me, Aurier must come in. This maybe controversial but yes Aurier it is.

In the midfield, just ahead of the defense I'd stick Sissoko who has become undroppable after being for so long droppable and therefore Sissoko is on

Along with him, we must play his "brother" from another mother. Ndombele. The difference between the two is in shooting the ball - thank God!

Winks showed that he has coolness under pressure and can evade being closed in by players. He does over play the side passes a tad too much. But between him and Dier, I feel Winks provides calmness and keeps things simple. Winks is in.

Now Lamela. He puts in a lot of effort but sometimes he can be his own worst enemy. His decision making smacks of being desperate to impress. Instead of a simple ball to a better place team mate, he'll attempt a shot and get nowhere. He gets dropped. Instead I'd be daring and opt to give a baptism of fire to the promising Argentine player - Lo Celso. I would unleash him onto the City defense . Eriksen will direct the operation from just behind Kane.

A big factor in playing Lo Celso so early on, is that City haven't faced him before and wouldn't expect him to start. A good surprise
Team

Lloris

Toby - Verts
Aurier Rose

Sissoko-Winks- Ndombele

Lo Celso Eriksen

Kane

Of course, Poch is never if nothing unpredictable so who knows.

Whatever it will be a cracker!

Who ever we play RB is going to have a hard time and they need help from the RCB and RCM or even RW depending in formation we adopt

How about we skip the main course and go straight to Sissoko at RB.

Good shout but the pace of Sterling would be cause Sissoko mistimed tackles and yellow card then red card
Either we take a gamble on KwP but have someone who will sit behind him to cover his forward runs. Or play Aurier. But the forward pay might suffer.

I don't think we'll see it either, maybe as a wingback. I can't help thinking of Valencia and how SAF turned him (and Young) into quality fullbacks. I think he's got the physicality and discipline, it's probably a bit late now though.

I think Poch will stick with KWP - if he comes out of it relatively unscathed it could be a big turning point for him.

tbh, if we are going to be playing with KwP this season as a backup to Foyth, it's better to let him play as otherwise it would give a negative vibe to the player that in big games, he's not trusted by Poch?

I don't know but this is the key position on Sat evening in my view. This could swing the game - Sterling on the flank against a relatively rookie full back.

Sterling can cause any of our defenders problems with the form he's in.

Well its a toss up between KWP and Aurier at RB.
Foyth would be better but he's still serving time.
Sissoko is shepherding NDombele in midfield... can't play him at RB.
And frankly, I never thought I would say this, but ..................
perhaps we should not have let Trippier go?
At least, not without an adequate replacement
