Bloated

No, not our fans. The Rangers squad is massive right now and it's a bit of a concern if i'm honest there are far too many players at the club that are not needed but are showing little sign of being shifted.

On the books including loans in and out we have 40 players i consider to be first team or on the fringes of:

GK McGregor, Foderingham, Firth, Alnwick, McCrorie

LB Barasic, Flanagan, Halliday

CB Goldson, Katic, Helander, Edmundson

RB Tavernier, Polster

CM Davis, Aribo, Jack, Kamara, Docherty, King, McCrorie, Rossiter, Dorrans, Holt, Kelly, Barjonas

Wings : Jones, Arfield, Ojo, Murphy, Stewart, Hastie, Barker, Middleton, McPake, Dodoo, Grezda

FW : Morelos, Defoe, Rudden, Herrera

7 of those are loaned out and 3 loaned in.

I'm concerned about the size the squad and expense of having this many players.

There are a load of them out of contract next summer which should alleviate the problem.

McGregor, Foderingham, Firth, Alnwick, Halliday, Flanagan, Davis, Rossiter, Barjonas, Dorrans, Holt, Dodoo, Herrera, Rudden

Only McGregor, Flanagan, Davis and Foderingham if he fancies being second choice worth discussing new deals with and possibly Rudden depending on how he comes on.

Are any other Rangers fans (i know there will be lots of concerned Tims) concerned about our squad size and how it's affecting the finances?

Though i still want us to buy Kent

nope

still fuming.

thing is mate i don't expect to get to the groups, i thought slavia might be too much.

its the absurd tactical error he made and his refusal to accept it thats annoyed me most.

SG said that Hastie is getting close to being in the squad so I doubt he'll be going anywhere. Same with Rudden, who looks like he's going to get a shot this season.

Interesting. A run out for Hastie v East Fife seems logical, lets see how he gets on now Gerrard thinks he's ready.

Good to hear him say that about Rudden, had a fantastic loan spell and deserves a shot.

BlueNose i prefer a loan up here so he can try make an impact v Celtic in those games. Maybe not Motherwell if there is bad feeling though.

I think SG likes Rudden.

He is just coming back from injury or he would deffo have been involved in preseason.

Rudden won pretty much every award going last season and took real responsibility up top in team that really toiled. But he still scored a decent amount of goals and lead the line very well by all accounts.

I see Gerrard commented there are 3 or 4 not happy to be out of the 18.

By my count we have 27 first team players available not including the 4 duds Holt, Dorrans, Dodoo and Grezda who seem to be training with the reserves. I wonder which 5 he's not counting.

Barker - Not registered?
Murphy - Not match fit
Rudden - Injured?
Hastie - Registered?
Firth - Surely.

I'm not surprised one bit.

I'd be f@cking raging as well at too many people that let the team and club down. Board, manager and captain especially.

Andy King seems a bizarre signing, well past his best and hasn't played a great deal of fitbaw in 2 years has he?

Aye sounds like he had a very good season. Guy next to me is a Falkirk fan and he's disappointed Rudden won't be going back.

He sounds like a good young pro.

As for the rest I'd imagine there will be a fair ole clearout happening with at least five going out. I'm pretty sure SG and Mark Allen will be working hard to cut the wage bill as much as possible.

Gerrard will obviously be well aware of his qualities.

He has played most of his career at a decent level. No real shame at being edged out with guys like £40m Tielemans coming in.

It wouldn't have been my priority position but I guess SG sees him as an experienced, reliable decent level performer who can come in and do a job when required.

If we make the EL group stages our schedule of games will be a bit brutal in November December in particular.

Having a bit of extra experience/quality around should help.

PL winning experience is the major plus i can see but had a loan cut short through injury last season. Can't say i actually remember seeing much of him ever so not sure how good or not he.

We are well stocked in CM but he wants 2 players per position.

Jack, Davis, Kamara, Aribo, Docherty and King for the 3 positions.

Not sure we need 6 when we have Arfield who can also play there but he seems to have moved forward. Would feel better about it if some diddys would leave.
