Technical Director or patsy?

Here is a interesting bit of news about the lack of Technical Director at United.
-------
One candidate had an intermediary speak with United about the post and the way it was described was they would chair a committee, likely made up of former players, who would recommend transfer targets and take decisions on current players’ futures. The shortlist would then be submitted to Woodward and head of corporate development Judge, who would have the final say.

A source connected with said candidate said: "It may explain why anyone with any credibility has walked away from the role." The last thing United need is a patsy.

If this is true, I guess we're more or less sticking with the same structure.

I’ll let you know once my copy of CEO monthly arrives!!

Look, I think most are saying we recognise his performance in the Brand of Man Utd.
We want a footballing person making the footballing decisions to help Ole out.
And about negativity... we disagree about Ed. Cos you’re shilling for him, but the support of Ole and the boys is there. Don’t go making out that you the sole ‘glass half full’ guy.
but what i want to know is, whats in the glass you are drinking?!

And there we go.

I want Ed replaced but no idea who with.

I want a football person in charge of football decisions, but cant say what decisions those are.

I wanted Ed out because we didnt get a new CF, even though I dont know if the manager wanted one.

It's just childish whinging.

Ok ok, im childish, and you’re politicking...
We all know where we stand.
You win. You got all the questions,.. sorry i meant answers.

We've discussed this several times. You asking who replaces Ed is deflecting the point (in our previous discussions, I already said he doesn't even have to leave) as none of us are in a position to recommend a replacement.

I think something based on what we have seen. You ask us to ignore it.

Saf recommendation has already been covered here. Not going to repeat it.

Gill and Saf going caused a big issue as we replaced the former with a novice. Each coach who has worked under him and have been sacked have came out and talked about his incompetence and ways he undermined them (openly in LVG's case).

Liverpool manage to emerge last year. City invested well and in what their manager wanted. They didn't look at who had the most twitter followers or who can gain the most likes on Instagram. In the same period we took one step forward and 3 steps back. You need to ignore Chelsea and Leicester winning the title in this time period to say City and Liverpool emerged. Its not been like this throughout his time in charge of the club.

If we're failing on the pitch, it's down to the manager but not all of is the manager's fault. If the manager asks for reinforcements and isn't given them, then he's already fighting an uphill battle. If there is a player he doesn't want but those above the manager tell that player he's important and not going to be sold, that undermines the manager.

Ed has backed all the managers? Are you serious? Can you prove he has tried to get every player the manager wanted? Or that each signing is the what the manager wanted? You can't. You ask others to prove beyond reasonable doubt yet you make this claim. You THINK Ed has backed all the managers. You dont KNOW.

And my last paragraph isn't silly. It's only silly if you think Ed has done a good job. He's been in the job long enough to know he's out of his depth. If he keeps going as he is and at the pace he's learning from his mistakes, we're going to be sliding further down the table.

I didn't address the point about Maguire as it was quite, but I a pattern emerging here, idiotic. They sold him this year as we met the price they asked for. Would have cost less last year as he hadn't had signed a new contract with them then.

I'm not deflecting the point. It's no good saying you want rid unless you can come up with someone better, otherwise, how do you KNOW there are better out there?

Iv no idea what you are responding to with " think something based on what we have seen. You ask us to ignore it"

SAF 's recommendation is a fact.

Yeah, sacked.coaches have a habit of moaning about their bosses. Very few come out and say 'yeah, I messed it up'

Liverpool have progressed hugely under Klopp, as have City under Pep, so have Spurs under Poch. Sadly this has coincided with our struggles post SAF, which was allways going to happen. To put all this on Ed is naive.

Failure on the pitch is predominantly down to the players, manager and coaching staff. To try and put this on Ed is just silly and childish.

No manager gets every player they they want, for various reasons. We dont know WHY we didnt get a defender last season.

The only player I recall Ed being rumoured to have pulled rank on Jose over is Martial, and personally i think that would be a positive.

None of us KNOW how many of the managers targets Ed has secured. What we do know is he has signed several players for all of them at great expense. To suggest Ed hasnt backed his managers is just plain wrong.

And it is silly to equate our record post SAF on Ed's shortcomings without acknowledging it has coincided with the loss of SAF and Gill as well as City, Liverpool and Spurs peaking.

As for Maguire, Again, none of us know why we didnt acquire Maguire last season.

It is deflecting. We can say someone has done a terrible job and needs to leave. Just because we do not know other people doesn't negate what a terrible job he has done. I mean I don't know manu surgeons, but if one was to leave surgical instruments in patients, I'm pretty sure he'd have to go regardless of who will replace him.

I'm not bothered to explain that.

SAF did. No one argued that. SAF didn't ask nor force Ed to give Moyes a 6 year contract. SAF also recommended Poch which was ignored by Woodward yet hired Jose and now Ole and before them LVG. So, Woodward is his own man there.

Sacked coaches don't always though, do they? . Ours all complain about the same thing about the same person. LVG has been sacked before, yet he doesn't hold any animosity towards Bayern or Barca.

Ed has spent a lot of money to take United backward. You want managers, Coaches and Players to take the blame for the failure on the field yet the man in charge of hiring, sacking, buying and selling gets little to no blame when under his watch, despite out spending others in the league during this period, we're worse off than his reign started? Ridiculous.

Klopp has taken Liverpool 4 years to improve. Pep had a bad start to his first season (by his standards) yet the team (take a look at their signings prior to his arrival as well as the types of managers they hired) and the set up of people above him was made for him. Tottenham hired Poch and backed him regarding the squad (he got rid of anyonetthat didn't fit in with what he was trying to do) and he improved them. What steps has Woodward taken to put in the right set up?

We do know why. It's been widely reported by several media outlets. As they don't suit your view, you ignored them. I mean, no one knows what Sanchez earns exactly, though we know he earns a lot and is our highest earner. If I had to apply your criteria to this, we'd say we don't know how much and we don't know if he earns the most.

This point has been covered. He's been at his current job longer than Klopp. Longer than Pep. Longer than Poch. Those clubs have people who know about football calling the shots when it comes to running the football side of things.

We didn't buy Maguire last year as we didn't make a bid for him. I'm not even his biggest fan, yet we paid more this year to buy him than what he was going for last year.
