The new handball rule

Possibly one of the most pointless and stupid rule changes ever?

Ball touches attackers hand, even very innocently - goal disallowed
Ball touches defenders hand - no penalty

In what world did we need this rule change? It’s almost like the powers that be want to do all they can to stop goals from being scored now.

Hopefully there’s an outcry and it’s scrapped as there’s no benefit to it existing.

Maybe City drew a game after the player used his hand unintentionally, which was rightly struck off and the world moves on. Maybe we don't start talking about rule changes simply because City drew a game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There’s a certain irony here though toor that your opinion is more at odds with general consensus than anyone else’s. Perhaps because it led to us drawing a game?

Personally, I can absolutely guarantee I’d be saying the same if it happened against us, much like every spurs fan I spoke to today who also thought the rule was daft. I think some people assume that because they’re incapable of rational though, everyone else must be too

Well as I said before, I'm in two minds about it. I don't want to see somebody punished for unintentional handball but also why should Spurs be punished for it? I just about side with the attacker being punished. You can't score or assist with your hand. Keeps it simple.

They had no idea they were. They thought they were rightly punished for poor marking of Jesús until they found out about the handball two minutes later when everyone else did. Listen to Lloris after the game, he clearly didn't agree with the new rule and he directly benefitted from it.

Oh man. I just can’t not respond - it’s too painful watching TOOR make a complete berk of himself.

‘He used a grinder to cut off his finger’ - intent
‘He was using a grinder when he cut off his finger’ - non intent.

TOOR, if you can’t understand it with the dictionary definition in front of you then I suppose you’re beyond help.

But don’t blame me for this thread. Multiple people have been explaining what is a very basic point and your refusal to accept it has derailed the original debate.

You just can’t admit when you’ve made a mistake - and you seem oblivious to just how stupid you look right now.

The player was using the ball when he handballed it - non intent.

Yes, they had no idea but people watching the replays would have and pointed out the error. Enter VAR, rules followed. Disallowed goal.

I'm completely understand people disagreeing with the law. I'm in two minds about it myself.

“Yes, they had no idea but people watching the replays would have and pointed out the error. Enter VAR, rules followed. Disallowed goal. “

And there is the fundamental crux of the issue in general.

Fair play for at least understanding why people don’t agree with it though, two hours ago it was just disgruntled city fans

I'm perfectly gruntled with the new rule.

This thread is simply magnificent.

I can’t decide whether my favourite part is where TOOR realizes his train analogy isn’t working so he switches to buses, or where he contrives to strengthen his second version with the addition of a banana skin

I think it may have been that point where he realised how stupid he looked and started trolling.

Apparently Laporte was using the ball because it hit him on the arm.

What a donut.
