Decent first half

Dodgy second half

Overall a fair result

But again there are two positions with glaring problems and have been for a while. CM and RW.

Really not sure what Lingard offers to high effect.

Mctominay was horrendous second half. Couldn't complete the most basic of passes.

And this is gonna be an issue all season I imagine.

Was sat just thinking Lingard, James and Mctominay need replacing but then I looked at the bench and it's like well who do you replace them with? Greenwood is a kid, Mata offers nothing and Andreas is tidy but not much else. Our squad is definitely the weakest in the top 6, we would be stupid to let Sanchez go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because he's been so good for the last 2 years

Get a grip ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah can't wait to see Mata come on and play on the wing. Absolutely rapid Mata is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And sanchez is different how? His legs have gone... Can't pass, can't beat a man
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's more direct, he moves and he attempts things Mata will not.

Mata dies have his uses, he's have been better int he first half today when we had possession.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The only thing sanchez attempts is turning into the defender and giving the ball away... He's abysmal

Poor second half which is why it was frustrating to wait until the 88th minute to change it up.

agree with op 100%

if i must add shaw got absolutely rag dolled by traore. At times it was like shaw was a ghost as traore ran around and through him. |Such an average defender but not our biggest problem.

our biggest problem remains cm we only have one player capable of picking out a pass. But we need more than just pogba to breakdown a team that is well structured like tonight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair to Shaw, Traore does that to a lot of defenders. He is awesome at bulldozing his way down the touchline.

This is bang on.... Everything goes through pogba, everyone is looking to feed him the ball... Crowd him out and we're stifled

and who do we have that can pass or beat a man? nobody.

nobody can be worse than Lingard can they?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So what does sanchez offer that suddenly makes him priceless

He's fookin done
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree he is done but he is also not worse than the player we have starting now.

Sanchez is worse than any of the players starting. Out of all the players we have had while he has been here, they've had more better games than him. He is done.

Mata as a ten is the only place we should use him.

James is raw and would be better off coming off the bench later on in games.

Shaw has regressed from last season but also lacks protection.

If we need to release Pogba later on in games, we need players who know how to protect the back four come on. The I'd risk Fred or Pereira there. Matic has to be used in Cup games and EL as the pace of the PL is too much for him now.

We need to sign some players in the next window and should be working towards that. It will at least give them time to bed in for the next season if they don't hit the ground running.

So far it’s been largely as expected. Better at the back, some positive signs going forward and generally a better brand of football.

Some big weaknesses such as our central midfield, but let’s hope McT in particular develops this year and next.

Is anyone concerned with our play from the back?
You know the nerves will be shredded playing certain teams that way.
I like the fact they are confident to do it. Even when being pressured. But sloppy moments happen and they did.
We know as a squad on paper we are weaker. When McT disappeared in the 2nd half, i’m looking to the bench and i’m like, ‘ok give McT another 5, maybe he’ll come good again’
The Mid cannot disappear like that.
Now a real concern, when Traore came on. Sure speed is a killer, but man we looked all over the shop. Panicky even. Others would have seen that.
Need to nip that in the bud quick.
I felt that’s what James’s role would be for us this season. Coming on, against tired teams, pushing them back. But he started.
We have our very own ‘Walcott’.. you know, when he first burst on the scene.
And then there’s the lack of chances created. Criticised in the past cos of our way of play. But we are set up to be offensive. But we’ve got to have the guile to cut through teams, rather than just relying on the counter.

We don't have many that can do that and it's a shame we didn't streghten the midfield or Am position.
