Utterly off topic

Sometime ago I posted a column on the kind of music that I like ie. Singer songwriters. Someone recommended The tallest man on earth, and a thank you to that person because I love him. Any others? They don't have to be the same as this guy, but I do like clever lyrics, not anthems. Thanks in advance.

If you like wierd lyrics and don't mind 'challenging' music then Frank Zappa is still worth a listen, even after all these years if you didn't then.

Billie Marten and Juilen Baker are writing some nice songs, if you like female singer songwriters.

Yes I do Ji. Apart from the obvious loke Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman, I am into Hindi Zhara at the moment.

Tim Hardin
Tim Buckley
Fred Neil
Phil Ochs
Tom Rush
David Ackles

All old, but incredible.

"Pleasant Street / You Keep Me Hanging On" from Dream Letter by Buckley is one I love of many very under-appreciated songs of his.

Fantastic to see someone mention him.

Thanks for the appreciation.

If you love Buckley's music, then you've got to check out Fred Neil. In terms of style (although not the quality of voice), Buckley was modelling himself on Fred Neil. He covered Neil's 'Dolphins'; a very fine version of a very fine song.

Check out Neil's eponymous album. Here's an especially nice song from it:
