Contenders

Just looking at the updated Sky bet odds and Leeds are an amazingly short price of 5/4 to win the championship.

Leeds 5/4
Fulham 3/1
West Brom 10/1
Cardiff 12/1
Brentford 20/1
Swansea 20/1
Sheff Wed 25/1
Bristol C 28/1
Derby 33/1

After 4 games its astonishing how short Leeds are in comparison to some of the contenders for promotion.

Personally i thought and still do think Fulham will win the league. Their attacking options are incredible and for on a par with Wolves who blew this league away.

Mitrovic (still waiting on him being banned?) Cavaleiro Knockeart Reid Arter with free scoring Cairney behind them is worth drooling over.

I consider West Brom big contenders are were my pre season tip to go up with Fulham. Having watched them theyre better than i thought. The young Nathan Ferguson and Kyle Edwards look good prospects and Zohore and Austin should score plenty. Theyve started well without captain Hegazi so far.

I tipped Leeds for 6th with obvious concerns over squad depth and the losses of Jansson Roofe and the goalkeeping department. We need to be luckier with injuries to contend.

A long way to go but 80 more points should see us promoted

I do have a concern about being top at this point in the season. Very rarely, if ever, does a team top in August get auto promotion.

Are there 2 teams better than us over the course of a season?

I think you have to consider Fulham, Cardiff, Swansea and West Brom.

Our challenge is to cope with injuries and eke out a few more points from our matches.

People outside the ranks of the Leeds United fan base have been saying(even before the season started!)Leeds will go up this time, someone around here even mentioned how odd it is others including rivals have more faith in us than we do!..

Impossible to say who has "more in the tank" than us after 4 league games. Silly thing to say. Fulham have a great squad on paper. So did Stoke last season. And West Brom. Neither of them walked the league.

Way too early to make educated predictions about how the championship is going to go. Know lots of people who had Swansea as lower middle table staving off relegation. Look how they've started.

We generally get that from other fans as they know less about what's going on at our club than we do, just see from outside that we did well last year and must have strengthened and will do better this year etc.

Ultimately, it boils down to are there 2 better teams than us over the season and quite a few clubs could have reasonable claims to be able to be 1 of those 2 teams.

Leeds United was often the reason Leeds United threw away points last season. Unenforced errors, defensive lapses, poor conversion rate, no plan B etc..

We've seen some good players leave in addition to existing gaps in the squad hence my thoughts behind the 7th place prediction.

I haven't seen all the teams yet and equally accept that some sides are still finding their "groove". However, momentum is a great thing and our early form has shown, to some extent, that we have picked ourselves up, dusted off the cobwebs and got on with the job in hand.

Crucially it appears we have a plan B that wasn't evident before.

At this level, whether we appreciate or not, Leeds United is a good team. There are some obvious teams that will compete.

No one has mentioned Reading. Serious investment in the Summer with an expectation to compete for the play offs. Hammered Cardiff at the weekend.....

For me only Fulham appear to be genuine contenders. There's a group of four or five that will be there or thereabouts. This year it's Leeds United's title to lose.

Stoke City will provide a stern test, a test that will determine if we have learnt from the last campaign and have the ability to kick on to another level.

This season we have Costa who can come in for Pablo. We never had that last year, it's a huge thing. Then Nketiah, who looks to add 20plus goals this season.

Goal scorer with pace
Winger with pace and trickery

2 match winners off the bench..

If we had that last season...we would be playing Prem football now.

Fulham have more in the tank as in they have better depth and more goals. They will outscore us. Its between us and them for top and I think they'll beat us too it. I think we're lucky the league seems weak this season, the other sides are all with new managers and having to rebuild whereas our platform was built last season. Costa and Nketiah are better than Baker and Brown in regards to bringing players off the bench.
