Angel Gomes

For anybody who missed our game v Rotherham in the EFL Trophy competition, here are the highlights from the game for Gomes.

Remember that Rotherham are a League One side and he seems to handle the physicality very well. For me he should be starting ahead of Lingard on Saturday, he offers everything Lingard does plus more.

You literally went on to say he will be able to handle the physicality of playing Burnley, and you’ve based it off playing against Rotherham. If you can’t see why it’s a point of contention in your article then there’s not much more I can say.

As for saying he seems the most ready I really don’t know what you’ve based that on. But seemingly nobody at the club agrees with that seeing as it’s Greenwood that is the one that is set to feature most prominently out of the youngsters.

I was talking about throwing Lingard under the bus not Gomes. Gomes is clearly a more gifted footballer than Lingard, but Lingard is one of the senior members of the squad, one of the manager’s most trusted players and one of the most popular players in the dressing room.

Not sure what the rush is with Gomes... We have a tone of cup games this season, so he should get good game time.

For the EL I'd like to see us line up like so (unless we find ourselves in a desperate situation to qualify from our group):

Romero

Dalot Smalling Jones Young

Fred Matic

Gomes

Mata Greenwood James/Chong

Same for the EFL cup.

This should give the youngsters (and Fred) enough game time to show what the can do and force their way into the managers thinking... IMO

I can see why it is but you seem to be stripping my comments of their context at every opportunity. If you disagree that’s fine but I’ve clarified multiple times now how I’ve reached my conclusion.

I’m not stripping them out of context at all. I’m questioning the strength of the arguments. It’s not my fault they are weak.

To be fair, lingard is proper average and hasn't ever looked that good in the championship.
If anything you lot are overrating lingard when he was a league below.
The guy is a squad player, ala o Shea. Can fill a role in a top club but shouldn't ever be a starter for Manchester United.
