Waiting until Guardiola leaves

I've seen this a few time: our fans hopefully gazing into the medium-term future in search of the time we can realistically win the title and assuming an opportunity will come when Guardiola moves on.

First of all, yes, he's a superb manager and has made City better.

But it's complacent to assume City will drop off after he leaves. First, they will still be an incredibly well-run club with the kind of professional structure and long-term planning many of us have been dreaming of since Fergie retired. They'll still have the money to invest to realise their plans. Secondly, the knowledge and ideas Guardiola introduced won't suddenly be lost the moment he walks out the door. The methods used in training, analysing the game, etc. will have been integrated and absorbed by the players and the staff.

Look at Barcelona since Guardiola left. They remain the predominant domestic force in Spain and, with certain tweaks and evolutions, still exhibit some recognisable Pepisms in their style of play, nearly a decade after he walked. Some of that 'added value' has been preserved, despite the fact that Barcelona, with the presidential politics, isn't run quite as coherently as City.

So I'm not that fixated on how much longer Guardiola (or Klopp) will stay. We surpass these clubs by getting better ourselves, getting our structures and our investment strategies right. We have to raise our bar (as Fergie did when Mourinho came on the scene) rather than hope they will lower theirs.

United finished 6th. I think you have more problems than Pep to be honest.

That's last year's news Rouge.

I think Ten Hag of Ajax has a big chance to became the next City manager. He has managed Bayern under 23 when Pep was the manager there and shares the same football philosophy as Pep.

The gap is too big for us to win a title whilst Pep is in charge I think. City will continue to improve and whilst we can take big strides forward, they are thriving on the competition Liverpool give them.

I don't believe that Busby. Not this season or next, but of course we have a chance, he's a great manager but not a miracle worker.

This season and next are the two remaining years on his contract. He’ll probably go when it expires. So we won’t be winning the title while he’s still around.

Theyve dropped something like 31 points in the last two seasons. Two from the last 51 I think.

He needs to go.

Personally I think one of Pep’s strengths is motivation irrespective. He’s obsessive about winning. City got more points winning the league with nobody near them than they did with Liverpool close behind.

I don’t think it matter to him and city whether they have rivals or not. They just do their thing and usually win the game.

It’s ridiculous. He’s only lost 32 league matches as a manager as well - excluding Barca B - in ten seasons of management.
