Berba, it’s a midfield problem but the back four aren’t significantly improved from last season either, in my opinion. Not on the evidence of the first three games.

I don’t agree about the defence. AWB is clearly better than anything we’ve had there for a long while and there were a few headers today that Maguire won in our own box that none of our other CB’s win that could have resulted in a goal or a chance for the opposition.

Lindelof did look poor today though.

It’s difficult to judge anyone with this midfield. I’ve said on a few occasions that i don’t really mind what happens this season as long as we see the youngsters. I know it’s only a few games in but we’ve surely seen enough of Lingard, Matic & Mata not really doing much to try the younger players like Gomes now.

James looked far, far better and more at home on the left, too.

AWB is better sure but as a back four it’s not a significant upgrade, is my point. The midfield is a concern but the back four need to do better, as I’m sure they will as they get used to playing together.

I’m not convinced by Lindelof and Maguire as a partnership. It’s not like they’re playing it out from the back well anyway, we’d be better off playing Smalling.
