A bit of optimism

Used to be a member a couple of years ago under the name "spur-of-the-moment". Decided to sign up again, since I spend a lot of time reading the forum. Thats all. Back to the important stuff.
Seems like a fair bit of Spurs supporters are going nuts after that horror result against Newcastle.
Yes, a midfield of Sissoko, Winks and Lamela is far from ideal, but did Poch really have any other options? Yes, Eriksen!!! you scream, but this isn't Football Manager, where you start the guy, win the game, sell him for 80m and get Dybala for 75m.

I like your optimism.
Ndombele is going to be a fine addition.
But losing Eriksen, if & when he goes, will be a real loss.
I am not sure about Lo Celso, we'll have to see how he adjusts to the Prem.
we needed an RB and didn't get one. Foyth is a weak link there.
And we also needed a legitimate backup to Kane, who will get injured, and we didn't do the Dybala deal.
So we're two first team players short of where we should be.
And there is the roster of replacements that are going to have to happen next season.
Add to that what appears to be some open warfare between the manager and certain key players - like Vertonghen - and you have a club that is in some disarray.
As for Mike Dean giving us anything ... see what Ace has to say about that!
So ... welcome back to the family!

Reason to be optimistic.

The bloody transfer window shuts in a few days.

Why is Verts in Poch’s bad books anyway?

Is it really a fitness issue?

I doubt fitness at all. Blimey Verts usually plays for club and country 24/7. Something else has gone on.

Like your optimism... Hope you're right on most points but you ruined it by pointing out we are still in 4 competitions when we are 2.5 weeks into the season.

You cannot deny the league form in 2019 has been a disaster, the stadium not having the desired impact on the team. Performances are dreadful and contractual issues are a mess

We'll see... at least we are surrounded by a bunch of other clubs just as flawed as us

We could lose Toby, Verts and Eriksen for nothing next summer, that is such a basic error for a club of our size and is beyond embarrassing.

I'm normally quite supportive of Levy but allowing this situation to occur is indefensible. As for Poch I've made it clear that he lost my respect on cl final night.

Its nice that you are optimistic but I don't feel the same. I think theres alot wrong behind the scenes and I wonder how the contract errors by Levy and Kane deciding when he plays (fit or not) is affecting the other players.

Losing at home to a Steve Bruce team is like a Maserati being overtaken by a tractor and its has ruined my bank holiday weekend.

To leave Moura out of CL final starting eleven was a big mistake. Not saying we would have won with him, but he must have been buzzing in the weeks after his hattrick and then to find out you're on the bench must have been similar to seeing Klitschko banging you're 18 year old daughter.

As I said, we don't know whats going on with Vertonghen. I think, and hope, he'll be back against Arsenal.
The contract situation is something we were making fun of at Arsenal and now its our turn. Sh*t happens.
Just like losing to Newcastle at home. Now thankfully we can bounce right back against Arsenal.
Ndombele and Sissoko will be too strong for their midfield. Yes Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe will have a field day against KWP but don't forget they're gonna play Luiz and Son will be ripping him a new one.... again.
I want to see fight and stamina in a derby and we're definitely capable of that.
Plus, we have Kane... enough said!
