without being too critical. It's very clear there used to be a classy CB in Sanchez but something isn't right.
one simple thing for me. Sanchez is very right footed yet Poch is playing him LCB and close to Rose.
I notice Poch doing some odd things.
1. Poch plays him LCB. right footed CBs passing to the left so always slow down our play out of the back yet Poch seems to think this works.
2. Even when we know Alderweireld is our best ball playing CB there were times last season that Poch put the onus on Sanchez bringing the ball out of our defence and this is NOT his strength
3. when defending Sanchez defends like a RCB even though he's LCB. he only spots danger over his right shoulder because when you play RCB you naturally assume there's cover behind you in the form of another CB. Sadly this is Rose and that means he's half way up the pitch so there is NO Cover.
These 3 points highlights some major issues with Poch and Sanchez. Why can't Poch just simplify his tactics.
Alderweireld has clearly got a better left foot and has more experience than Sanchez at playing LCB or swallow his pride and play Vertonghen.
Sanchez should never play LCB. In my option Vertonghen , Alderweireld then Davies should be the 3 options.

I assume he's playing next to Rose because Pochettino doesn't want him next to the even more inexperienced Walker-Peters.

The bottom line is Sanchez will be our main main man probably this time next season. Both Verts and Toby will probably not be at the club, so whilst I would welcome Verts back into the side it would be a short term fix.
Not like over the last six months playing Verts and Toby together has brought us loads of victories it hasn`t. The truth is the central defence is not out major problem. The midfield is.
As another poster said yesterday, letting in one goal against Newcastle should have not been a problem, if the rest of the team were doing the business in midfield and up front and scoring three or four goals. Liverpool have not kept a clean sheet this season, but have won all three games.

Ndombele and Lo Celso is a class midfield pair. Once fit I don't see a problem.
If Eriksen stays he plays ahead of them in a 4231 or 433. If Eriksen leaves Dele gets his chance as the support striker to Kane.
Dele playing instead of Eriksen turns out formation into 4222 which I have no problems with. City won the league playing this.

If Sanchez doesn't start to improve, Tanganga has to come into the frame surely?

The alternative is back 3 with strict instructions. Central CB act as as ball player which the other 2 mark their men all game.
we could have stuck one CB on Joelinton and another on Almiron. Leaving one CB to cover or create transitions from the back.

If Eriksen is only going to be worth 30mil on deadline day then the argument to keep him and except that he leaves for nothing next summer is strong.
We can be pretty sure that he's not interested in a new contract so everybody will know where they stand.

Gotta Love Levy... spends all summer trying to penny pinch and cut PSG out of a piece of the GLC deal meaning he signs late and has no impact on the first month of the season while at the same time facing the prospect of selling Eriksen for 30mln or possibly nothing (after another season of looking disinterested) having given Spurs plenty of notice of his wish to play elsewhere having refused to talk about a new deal for the last 12 months...... & people wonder why why he get stick for putting profit ahead of football. Sanchez needs a massive season as i think poch likes him(for some reason) and he will play most games, he really has got off to a poor start.
