Terrible Lingard stat

Just came across this stat.

In league games in these months, these are the goal or assist stats for Mr Jesse Lingard...

May 18 - 0,0
August 18 - 0,0
September 18 - 0,0
October 18 - 0,0
November 18 - 0,0
December 18 - 4,2
January 19 - 0,0
February 19 - 0,0
March 19 - 0,0
April 19 - 0,0
May 19 - 0,0
August 19 - 0,0

So apart from December 18 not a single goal or assist in 12 calendar months of league football. Now hopefully with my strange posting curse he’ll go out and hit a hattrick on Saturday against Saints. But soon there has to be a day of reckoning and if he keeps up this lack of anything resembling a contribution he surely has to be binned next summer..?

Ah ok gotcha. The emergence of Mount and Maddison is good for England. We haven’t had a playmaker in the team since Wilshere got crocked. Central midfield is still really weak, though. I’d like to see Southgate be bold and play a midfield three of Henderson, Maddison and Mount. It shouldn’t be a big problem against Bulgaria and Kosovo. But I understand there’s a need for Southgate to build a team that is going to compete at the Euros, so it’s unlikely.

Spot on regarding the playmaker, can add Foden to that as well eventually. He may be getting frustrated seeing the likes of Mount overtake him but Pep will turn him into a special player imo.

Not sure if Rice is that player to fill in the defensive role and solidify the midfield or not though, I've never really seen what the fuss is about.

It’s gonna be a while before Foden is a regular fixture in the starting lineup for England, I suspect. Yeah I don’t get the fuss with Rice either, or Winks. They’re basically reincarnations of Dier and Cleverly, but they’re the only players we have in those positions so I imagine they’ll be getting a look in. Henderson is still the best player we have for those roles, which says it all.

foden needs to get some substantial game time before he plays for england, pep needs to back up his 'hes the greatest talent ive ever seen' by actually playing him this season

You'll never be a top tier club with players like him and Ashley Young in your squad

Just seen that the Ox is in the England squad too

Strange call from Mr 'I'll only pick players in form' Southgate

Foden needs to go on loan. He won’t play enough at City. He’s still young, but he needs to be playing competitive football regularly. Training with top players and coaches can only do so much when you aren’t playing actual football.

Mike

People complain about Lingard but how the fack is he in there? He’s been crap, and injured, for Liverpool since going there. And has always been shiiiiiiit for England.

done Numerous articles on him the last 2-3 yrs on how bad he is.
Why people believe he is a good squad player is beyond me. A squad player still contributes, what exactly does he contribute? He wouldn’t even get into the Wolves, Everton, West Ham or Leicester side so why is he starting for us regularly? He just epitomises how average we have been the last 4 yrs or do. I believe his stats are something like 26 goals and assists in over 130 games, for an attacking midfielder that is truly pathetic.

Oh but he runs around a lot and creates space for others. Grrrrreat

I think a lot of the support and patience with Jesse was simply because he's a local lad, and we wanted to see him do well. But the fact remains, we were looking through tinted glasses. I'm over him now - completely.
