It is absolutely essential that Spurs keep Vertonghen this season.
How can Levy offer Toby a contract at 200K/week and not offer Jan the same?
If however Jan's problems with staying are personal rather than contractual, then it another matter.
Levy & Pochettino need to smooth things over.
Vertonghen is a key player for this season.
