"As flies to wanton boys we are for the gods, they kill us for their sport.

"I love football. Thank you."
Thats deep for a footballer . I didnt know him when playing for United but I love him for everything he is doing after.
I didnt know about this one:
In the aftermath of his kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace fan in 1995, he gave his infamous press conference observation that "when the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea".
WTF
Never change, Eric.

Nice bit about Messi and Ronaldo too
What is your favourite Cantona moment, during or after United?

The seagulls speech still ranks as one of the funniest moments in football! In the context of what had gone on, it was bizarre yet hysterical. He completely mullered the press in one sentence.
Last night's speech....WTF!!

Was utter class, they just weren’t prepared for it.

I often wonder why people don't get the trawler sardine one.

It could be relating to the media and all the people on his back all the time at that time, but it has never been explained and no one really has a clue what he meant by it.

.....
That's how I have always read into it.
It could have absolutely no meaning what so ever, of course and just be jibberish.

The wanton boys part is Shakespeare. King Lear, I think. At least it was about sport anyway.
