In view of the current dire situation

regarding our full-backs, would anybody be averse to just ditching them completely and playing with three CBs and flooding the midfield?

The full-back situation is getting beyond a joke now. Aurier, our only fit right back sitting on the bench, whilst the manager tries a CB at right back, what`s that all about. The full-backs situation has rapidly gone from bad to worse over the past year, with the manager`s constant rotation of them all, pretty much ruining the lot of them. Rose is pretty much finished now, how bad was he yesterday?

Plenty of midfielders won`t get regular starts, so let`s dump the full backs, and get all the midfielders in, thus blocking a way to our shaky defence. Makes sense, sometimes you have to have a plan B. Nothing in the rules to say you have to play with full-backs, especially if they are as woeful as the current lot are.

Sensible answers only.

By October we will have Foyth and Sessegnon playing as full backs. Whether that works or not remains to be seen, but that’s what the plan was and undoubtedly still is, when injuries allow.

Personally I think we are better suited to a back 3. Our full backs aren’t the best defensively, so it gives them less area to defend and more protection behind them. Also allows Sanchez to play alongside Toby and Jan while he learns his craft, rather than being more exposed in a 2. Also, puts less impetus on the central midfield to offer protection, meaning we could play Ndombele and GLC rather than being forced to use Sissoko as ‘muscle’.

_____Son__Kane__Eriksen

Would be my preferred line up, fitness permitting. Still gives us the options of bringing Sissoko, Winks on to shore things up, or going to a 4231 and chucking on Moura, Dele or Lamela if we need to chase a game.

To add to this, if Foyth is not fit, then Sanchez will be moving in that position. Poch made it clear that he watched Sanchez play for Nacional in his hime country as RB and Poch is happy that he'll adapt to it. Also there is talk that Ben Davies is going to be more prevalent than Danny Rose. Rose is at fault for the first goal yesterday and he was also at fault for Villa and Newcastle goals. Poch has detected Rose has bee under performing for a long time and therefore had allowed him to leave. It's telling that Ben Davies has been given a contract.

I thought Winks was very impressive yesterday so in that team, Winks has to feature for me. It will be exciting to have Sessegnon at last making his debut.

That would probably be my team as well Ace, but we all know the manager will not play it. He will continue with KWP and Rose at the back, play a midfield of Sissoko, Winks and Lamela. He is stubborn, and that is why the results are suffering.

Poch has not detected at all that Rose is underperforming, he keeps picking him. If he fancied Davies over Rose, he would be starting, and he isn`t.

It was telling that, although Sanchez was struggling big time against Auba in first half, Poch didn't bring in Aurier.
He trusts Aurier less and specially doesn't think Aurier has the right temperament for the big games.

Poch defended Sanchez's performance and even said he thought, Sanchez, Winks, Lloris, Verts and Eriksen were the best of the bunch. Poch said Sanchez had to face Auba and then Pepe, so in the circumstances, he did well. Tbh, their goals didn't come from the side Sanchez defended. Even the second goal is the old left back and Cb space that Auba exploited.
Though with Davies in, and Verts getting back his fitness, this will be solved going forward.

I still can't belive Xhaka was only carded like 5min from the end when he spent the whole game fouling under that stupid ref

He should've got a yellow for that challenge on Son for which the pen came about. After that, you can pick any incidents involving Xhaka and stick a yellow and get him off
The ref tried his best to not send him off.

No he has. Rose was told to find a club in summer by Poch, exactly for under-performing. Unfortunately, for whatever reasons, he stayed and found himself back in the team sheet due to injuries. He's going to be on the bench once Davies is fully fit.
