AWB has withdrawn from the England squad with a back injury.

No further info at this point other than Southgate won't be calling up a replacement.
Hopefully it's just precautionary. Last thing we need is both of our starting fullbacks injured, with Dalot still in recovery and Darmian no longer at the club.

Greg
I expect that a lot of players who are selected to represent their country care very much about it.

It would be very bad for Utd if he did get injured considering Darmian has gone and Dalot is injured. England doctors assessed him so probably decided a bit of rest is good for everybody.

Back injuries are a classic get out.
Doubt he would have started anyway.

You think a kid with a chance to make his international debut reported for international duty, then made up a back injury so he didn't have a chance to make his international debut? Please tell me aren't being serious?

I think that's very possible yes, certainly if his club supported it. Think it's a little naive to think it's not.

An extablished International for a friendly game, that's a possibility. But a young lad with a chance of making his debut? Not a chance. Nor do I think that Ole or the club would ask that of him

Which is fine but I do. Hopefully he's fit in time for Utds next game and he's pain free.

..
You think the club called him back or instigated it?

Just think it may be deemed as a good decision all round.
You can play in a friendly and then swap countries ala Declan Rice. It's really not that bigger deal. Im sure he'll be fit to play for Utd in 8 days time, put it like that.

The game isn’t a friendly FYI
It’s two euro qualifiers
I don’t think AWB would have played either tbh - possibly the Kosovo game - but if there’s even the slightest knock it’s best he leaves the squad and avoids making our right back position as rubbish as it was before him

He'll get plenty of caps Im sure. Great defesively solid option against stronger teams. I still think TAA will end up in midfield too so that's more opportunity but thrre are some good rbs coming through.
