One of our best nights post SAF which was part of arguably the best run of pure results in my time supporting United anyway.
Roll on 6 months and we’ve won 3 competitive matches and that was our last away win.
I’m sure none of us would have believed this would happen at the time.
It’s a frustrating game sometimes.

New manager bounce doesn't really exist, at least to that extent, he broke all kinds of record and the only other example I can think of is Shakespeare at Leicester. And that was not the equal of Ole's. It's too easy to dismiss when it doesn't suit the narrative. Where was Jose's new manager bounce, and he had a window.
------
Yep it has been proven to be a bit of a myth. Shakespeare is probably the best example and that was only 6 games. 4 of which were against teams you'd expect them to beat.

Dalglish's 2nd stint at Liverpool. You tend to see it with managers that rely heavily on motivation and man management as they are either tactically inept or tactically outdated.

This idea that all of a sudden him getting the job was the reason results and performances went south is one of the most stupid things I’ve ever heard.

He didn't win any of his first 3 games.

Lukaku stepped up that night.
Showed great anticipation for both goals and Rashford showed amazing mental strength to take that penalty with such a delay.

Fred did too. Funny really.

There was more to it than 'new manager bounce' with Ole. That is just being lazy and in Robb's case just part of his current narrative.

Rio Ferdinand after the PSG win:
"Man United might not thank me, but get the contract out, put it on the table, let him sign it, let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there -- given what he's done since he's come in -- and let him sign the contract and go," he said.
"Ole's at the wheel, man -- he's doing his thing. Man United are back!"

I dont think the new manager things a myth at all you’re just looking at it results wise? Performances are often lifted and it makes sense that a struggling team will probably be lifted for a number of reasons when a new manager comes in. Might not guarantee results but more often than not a lift is seen.

One thing I think is often overlooked about that rum and what happened at the end was the injuries
PSG was arguably our worst performance yet we won thanks to some serious good fortune and wasteful finishing from PSG
The Liverpool game was really what turned the tide
Ole had a settled team that was playing well, square pegs in square holes, but losing three key players and suddenly the team never looked “right” again.
The games following that were all over the place, suddenly pogba wasn’t as far forward, The quick moving front 3 were no more it all seemed to fall apart there.
I know some of said oles desire for high intensity and the Jose fitness levels didn’t match and that’s why they ran out of steam but the nadir really was those injuries v Liverpool

One of many false dawns post SAF.
United fans need to relax now, give the club time to get them out of this hole because attempted quick fixes have only made the situation worse.
