Si Ferry, Paul Slane & Kevin Kyle

3 of them have been making waves in the Podcast game over the last few months.

They're very funny if you haven't listened to them, most of it is a laugh but they do talk about serious issues at times and last nights was quite serious, focusing firstly on Scotland and the lack of chances taken in games, forward passing, through balls, crossing and 1 on 1 situations.

Midfielders are too quick to pass the ball to the full backs and the centre halves to make their stats look good and they pinpointed McTominay in particular as someone who plays for stats, countless balls sideways and backwards and how he dupes you in with his ball retention and yeah I do agree he did dupe me on Monday night (however he did look for forward passes at times but our movement in front of him was shocking)

Ferry said he plays against a McTominay(he was being overly harsh on McTominay but I do agree in the main) every week in the lower leagues, big tall athletic boys who have no interest in trying to make things happen, they don't tackle, they don't shoot, they don't assist, they basically don't try and be Kevin De Bruyne who isn't afraid to look stupid by giving the ball away by trying to make things happen.

He said nowadays he'd want to be a full back or a centre half because they see more of the ball now than any in the team and I 100% agree with that, it really reminded me of us under Rodgers 2nd and 3rd seasons but its the same with mostly every team now in the European football except the good teams have players who can hurt you from any position.

So are we trying to hard to be a nation that we shouldn't be, should be just be happy to be different and play the old fashioned style of football that we're renowned for or maybe a bit like Celtic were a few weeks ago, try and play football but know when not to i.e. get the ball into space at the other end of the park and squeeze the game the other half as far away from trouble from your goal as possible.

I thought Clarke might be the one to take us back to that style but it seems to me that he maybe feels somewhat of a need to try and play this possession football that everyone seems to be playing now and we just aren't good enough to do it.

It's probably a point that's been made before but it was interesting to hear Ferry who still plays talk about how Tommy Burns (who was known for playing expansive football) go mental if players passed the ball back the way or turned down the chance to take a man on if they were one on one which seems to be the way these days.

The other serious point that was made was the easy ride Gerrard gets and if Lennon had lost that game a few weeks back in the same way Gerrard did he'd of been out on his bum in the papers the next day.

Sorry for boring you all on a Wednesday

It's better that gerrard gets an easy ride. He's not exactly proving to be a good manager

Never seen the point of getting upset over the schite from the red tops, sometimes its a laugh, the Kent as good as Hazard was funny but lets look at who supposedly said that 'Kyle fooking Lafferty' hardly a man who's opinion is sacrosanct.

If the DR for example think that a huge part maybe even the largest part of their readership are Rangers Fans then of course they will spin feelgood stories on the back of the Ibrox defeat, they are dying on their erse and will no doubt be gone soon, hardly see anyone buying a paper these days. The DR also lost a lot of Celtic readership when they lied about that story with the Celtic team on their Christmas night out, they never apologised or retracted that either if I mind right.

Yip Rangers fans lap up pundits saying Rangers would win 4-0

Only decent of them to give them a few positive stories since whoever predicted that was on magic mushrooms.

No really without context though was it ya balloon, the OP was about Gerrard getting a free ride

Gerrard didn’t get an easy time, was rightly called out for his tactics and selection. He had an easy time till then as it was all good up to then. None of this desperate for players chat, needing big improvements etc you had on at Celtic.

Lennon has a squad that costs twice as much, and Celtic are obviously the team to beat. Or are they trying to say Gerrard should be judged to the same standard as Lennon? Till the old firm we’d surpassed expectations in Europe, the opposite for Celtic.

We’ve also just had Kent called a panic signing fs, as if we weren’t trying to sign him all summer. Can’t stand Sportcene these days nothing insightful between them.

Heard the Athletic is a quality read so tempted to subscribe to that

Are Celtic fans really getting their nick nacks in a twist because Gerrard hasn't been slated enough in the press after the OF game?

You are all being more than a bit selective about IMO.

There was universal agreement across all the media that Gerrard got it badly wrong against Celtic and that Lennon got it spot on.

What more do you want? Are there not enough hysterical Rangers fans on the phone ins calling for SGs head like we had with Lennon? You want front page headlines with Gerrards head replaced by a turnip?

Seriously - I am not sure what you really expect to happen. Rangers have had a strong start to the season - we have qualified for the EL again and went into the Celtic game with a 100% league record - a significant improvement on last year.

And because everyone had a bad day in the first OF game you all want SG hung out to dry? Maybe we are just showing a sense of perspective?

In the past week we have had plenty of stories criticising Rangers.

'Kent is a panic buy'

'Rangers are now 1 defeat away from a crisis'

'Gerrard must stop throwing his players under the bus'

'Rangers EL ticket prices amongst the most expensive in Europe'

etc etc.

How exactly are these all feel good Rangers stories to appease the tubby slavering masses?

So is the suggestion that despite all of this - because there were some positive reports around the fact we brought the PFA young player of the year back making him our second most expensive signing ever or because someone is singing the praises of a Rangers player who scored four minutes into his international debut then Scottish media is pyoor at it?

As a great man somewhere once said 'whit a pyoor riddy'.
