Who is the player in your time watching the sport that you feel has done the most with their ability, or lack there of?
Who have you looked at and thought, how the hell has he made it pro? but still manages to knock in the goals.
My Club - Diego costa has to be up there, not the quickest, nor the strongest, a pain in the ass, couldn't dribble round a bin without knocking the lid off, but boy was he effective, a goal every other game for chelsea and at times single handedly took the fight to teams for us.
Any club - Sissoko stands out to me currently, but one player who i've always thought was just rubbish but would always have a good goal return was/is lukaku. It could come off his shin, his knee but he still managed to find the net.

You could probably argue Gerrard. Wasn't as good a passer as Xabi Alonso, wasn't as good tackler as Mascherano, wasn't as good a goalscorer as Lampard, wasn't as mobile as Vieria, wasn't as intimidating as Keane, wasn't as athletic as Seedorf, wasn't as successful as Modric, but still better than them all in some peoples eyes.
He was jack of all trades. Maybe not the master of any, but a very good level none the less.

Beckford at Leeds. Couldn't pass, poor touch, players said nobody wanted him on there team during training. Yet he could score from wherever he bloody wanted and he banged goals in for fun in L1

Thomas Muller. I think he was very effective but not quite sure why exactly. I think it was positioning and movement but wouldn't put my house on it.
Gary Lineker. Goal machine but not a skillful player IMO. I did admire him though as goals it's what it's all about.

Perhaps Marcos Alonso deserves a mention. In reality probably a Championship full back but managed to have a decent goalscoring record from wingback/LB for two seasons at Chelsea (even if he wasn’t good at literally anything else a full back does) and convinced many he was world class, while being seen as a key component in our 15/16 league win

Sorry Nick but I can't provide you with our best "crap" player but I can provide you with our worst one. His name was Dave Mitchell and he plumbed new depths of mediocrity in an already mediocre era.
One example of his "talent" was where in a game at the Bridge in about 1989 he went for a goal kick from our keeper in the centre circle and the ball ended up hitting him on the shoulder and went off for a throw in on the half way line π
Trevor Aylott did run him pretty close though π
