Leeds Utd v Barnsley Matchday Thread

Great Stuff, International break over and back to the stuff that counts

Welcome to the Matchday Thread and a short trip down the road for the Travelling Faithful
Marcelo Bielsa: "We have never faced a team like this one, it is a different kind of team. They press high and run a lot, the position they have in the table is not linked with the style of play they have shown.
"This team is built to move the ball in a good way. I don't know the manager, but the team speak for him and the team has shown new things."
Mind games ?? obviously Marcelo isn't taking owt for granted and with a few tough games coming up we need a confidence result

Venue...Oakwell...Date...Sun 15th Sept...Kick Off...1230hrs

Match Facts
Barnsley are looking to avoid losing back-to-back home league matches against Leeds for the first time, having lost 2-0 at Oakwell in November 2017 in their last meeting there.
Leeds have won four of their last five league matches against Barnsley (W4 D0 L1), losing the other 3-2 in January 2017 at Oakwell under Garry Monk.
Barnsley are winless in six games in all competitions (W0 D2 L4), last enduring a longer run without a win in February 2018 (7 games).
Leeds United's Pablo Hernandez has been involved in 46 open-play sequences that have ended in a shot in the Championship this season - four more than any other player.
Barnsley have won four of their last 24 Yorkshire derbies in the Championship (W4 D9 L11), with one of those wins against Leeds in January 2017.
Leeds are looking to win six consecutive away matches in all competitions for only the third time in their history - they also did so between September and November 1931 and October and November 1963.

There you are then, Yorkshire Derby and both Teams obviously out for the points and the Fans for the bragging rights
Not an easy game by any means but I think we'll edge it 0-2 Klich and Pablo to rattle the net

Poor Highland, stuck in the remote wilds of Sutherland
Stunningly beautiful scenery ( when you can see it through the rain)

Hope you managed to see / hear the game somehow. Exhilarating Yorkshire derby with the right result

Cheers

Credit to Barnsley. They put up a good fight and made us work for the 3 points. No easy game this one.
When will the penny click for Bielsa? Nketiah needs to start. Costa too

Ground out the result there, well done Leeds.

Bamford played well. Nketiah with a superb finish against a tiring and under siege Barnsley.

Good team effort and a great clean sheet.

Glad for Shackleton, he had a good game

Stupid TTNet internet steady as a rock until the final five minutes, red light comes on and I miss both goals. Hopefully will be better for Derby game.

Bamford does a lot of really good things that he doesn't get enough appreciation for, imo. I thought Eddie was poor off the bench against Swansea, because he didn't have the physicality to properly compete with their defenders.

Both players are very good at this level so I would like to see both play.

Just back nothing in the game for 80 minutes, you probably just shaded it at the end. Good game and really enjoyed it.
Our fight isn’t with you in this league though and we need to start picking points up somewhere before it gets too late.
One thing i must say, I’ve never rated Bamford, but i thought he was excellent. Lead the line well and always played on the shoulder of our last defender.

He was constantly held and fouled too. Deserved a goal.

Yes you need to take that attitude into all your games.

Well done Leeds for grinding this one out, and well done Barnsley for making it a difficult game to overcome. If Barnsley keep playing like that, then they will be safe.
