no pogba no problem

Not missed today? At his schittiest he still creates through balls. Who was doing that today. The midfield was played awful today.

We didn't have Pogs sauntering round the pitch -instead, we had the lads running the pitch. I'll trade hustle and effort for a Hollywood pass. We ought to get a huge payday and possibly a much-needed player in a deal for Paul. I don't trust him and don't buy his dedication. He's better suited to playing in a softer league and at a position where he doesn't have to hustle and graft. I really do hate that about him - he's lazy for me....

How was the game without the missing players?

We'd have been better with Pogba in Matas place today.

The midfield looked for better with two mobile, energetic players in the engine room in Fred & McTominay. Although Pereira was vastly better at CAM than on the right of midfield, if we'd have had Pogba breaking into those advanced midfield positions we'd have certainly looked better.

It's no secret that Ole needs to get the midfield balance right.

I think we could play somewhere between Ole's preferred 2-3-1 midfield setup and the 3-3 that suits Pogba by going:

----McTominay
--------------------------Pogba

I would retain Ole's preferred shape, get Pogba into that inside left midfield area that he likes to move into (without necessarily making him a "#10" per se), get him away from picking the ball up deep and losing it and has plenty of energy in front of the defence.

I agree Pogs is class, but he's not what we need here. We need a Kante type. Pogba can be an 8 or a 10, but doesn't have the discipline to handle the ball deep - he's a bit of a fiasco deep. he's more of a continental player. We need hustle and graft, not Hollywood.

Was at the game. I’m not a massive Pogba fan, but he is quite literally the only CM when have who can take the ball, keep it, and break lines with his passes.

The midfield today was really poor (bar McTominay who is quickly becoming one of my favourite players in this squad).

Important win, poor performance. Understandable with the injuries though, but highlights the frailties of the squad depth.

He will be gone first concrete chance he gets. It may be for the best long term, depending on replacement, not short term.
