Emery out - long read/rant

Seen enough to know he cannot improve this team beyond the 4-6 spots in the league.

That midfield is porous. How do we stand off every opponent. No closing down passing or shots and creatively weak. We look atrocious without the ball and we deserved to lose that game based on that second half display. What is our defensive philosophy?? There was NO energy all game and that is unacceptable. This is a game we should have won at a stroll after the first half...but those short goal kicks as well. Like what the fuiuuuuk??? When did the law come in that EVERY goal kick had to be short? Invites pressure EVERY time. Completely suicidal.

Did Torreira murder his cat?? He should be the first name at the base of the midfield in a 4231. Xhaka and Guendouzi dont have the energy to put pressure in that position.

AMN..like what the fuiuuuuuck... Delofeu cuts in every time...and every time he let him do it. The sooner Bellerin is back, the better. The space we gave them on the wings and midfield...I dont get it. Defending so deep versus flipping Watford!!! That defence and midfield should have pushed up 15 to 20 metres. That narrow diamond did not look good versus Liverpool and even at 2-0 up today, it still looked atrocious. Why persist with it?? Emery was great at changing the system last season to make us a great second half team and the question being asked was "why cant he get it right from the beginning?" Now he seems unable to even make tweaks when they are desperately needed.

Also, how is there no conversation on the field?? I captain a sunday league team and am constantly yelling and organizing from the midfield. I dont see anyone in this team taking leadership and organizing the squad at all. Emery looks like a lost vampire on the sidelines..ridiculous.

Nelson and Willock have a lot of growing to do and it's a bit shocking that those were brought on to try win the game. Our bench looks weak atm and the sooner we get our defenders fit, the better. Chambers played a season in DM, why not give him a shot there next to Torreira?

Wenger lost his way, but Emery is NOT the answer. Please send him off at the end of this season. This is ridiculous.

I’m giving emery benefit of the doubt until we have our proper fall backs playing. Combined with us mainly losing to ridiculous stupidity of our players. This is probably mainly born out by being full manager out always has a negative effect on a team. And we still have a good chance of top 4 this season, it’s not worth piling in on the team just yet. We can’t afford it. I want to see our full squad available first.

I just don’t understand why we’re repeating same mistakes we’ve done for absolutely ages. Someone makes a mistake, we all śhît ourselves. Emery has to figure it out and or drop players who are guilty, or he has to go. Until this attitude is gone from the club, we’ll never improve

Sokratis and xhaka needs to go for the time being

I don’t understand what managers see in Xhaka. We must sell in January. We are desperate for Bellerin to come back as well.

On another note, the amount of ridiculous, hysterical articles calling for Emery to go make me embarrassed to be an Arsenal fan. He should be assessed at the end of this season.

Xhaka just said that they knew Watford would up the pressure and energy but said we were scared/timid in the second half. It's Watford..not Man City. Facking hell!!! The scary thing, both Xhaka and Emery are saying that this is how we just have to do it and keep working on it. Nothing about trying something different. It's gonna be a rough season guys!

He has had a full season. I said give him a season as freebie. By then, he will know his players...who he keeps, who he gets rid off and who he brings in. This is now HIS team. They play based on his directions. And so far this season, they have been incredibly underwhelming. I am not saying sack him now...but regardless of where we finish (3rd to 8th), if we look no better in terms of philosophy and mistakes and being stubborn to the point of stupidity (short goal kicks), he needs to go

It seems absurd to suggest that we should sack him regardless of where we finish. I always thought that at the end of the second season is a good time to properly assess his performance and I stand by that.

My point is that so many reactionary fans write these articles in the heat of the moment after a disappointing result. Yours is a lot more measured and articulate than most, but do you seriously think it would be fair to sack Emery if we finish 3rd?

If we still look clueless, I'd say yes sir! The only way we'd finish 3rd playing like we did today with no urgency or defensive nous, is if utd, spurs, chelsea, Leicester etc collapse. But would that level of collapsing ever happen again? I think not which is why I'd bring in someone else as no one would get that lucky ever again.

Just my thoughts

PEA is a great finisher but he doesn't suit a team which wants to press.

Your midfielders are good on the ball but don't have the stamina to run and press for 90 minutes.
Your players can do it for 45 minutes but no more than that.

And I share a lot of your concerns. But at the end of the day we are only 5 games in and we are level on points with the team in 3rd. People need to take a breather.

I understand. My concerns arise from last season too though..the final 8 or so games including the Europa League final, was capitulation of the worst kind. But even then, I figured give him a chance to get a second summer to work with the team and get his way of playing in them. But we look like we did at the end of last season. Klopp for example struggled for a while...but you knew his philosophy. For us, other than the playing out the back, I cant tell you what we play. Are we a possession based team? Are we counter attacking? Do we press without the ball or sit deep? Players look like they donno who to be tracking down wings etc. Those are basics that we should be doing regardless of the results. Now the players may be too thick to implement what Emery wants...but a good manager works with what he had. He needs to compromise. If you don't have a Ceballos or Torreira picking up the short pass, hit is long. Or if Guendouzi is having a bad day, then change it up....dont insist to keep doing the same thing even when it is not working. Those are my big concerns!
