Title in our own hands

There seem to be a lot of rival fans basking in our defeat last night (in a dead rubber CL game - we all know we'll walk that group in the end).

Which got me thinking about where this jealousy could be stemming from.

Obviously, Liverpool being Super European Champions is going to stick in the craw of many as their own clubs have fallen to huge levels of insignificance - I mean, Arsenal and United can't even get in to the Champions League anymore, Spurs saw their team torn apart by us in their biggest ever match and Chelsea are still hurting from the Super Cup Final defeat. Fair enough.

Spurs fans have become by far the saltiest. It's now reached a stage where they are more interested in Liverpool losing than Spurs winning - they've basically become the new Everton. It's tragic.

But what is the root cause of all of this bitterness? Surely it's not our success in Europe - we have been English footballs greatest side in that arena for longer than most of these toe-rags have been alive.

I guess the fact that we're now by far the best team domestically too must be hurting. Mid-September and already no team other than City can catch us in the table without relying on other clubs' results against us too.

That must sting.

The title is also in City's hands. Just need to beat you twice and match your remaining results

Every time they've had the premier league title in their hands all the other teams have just ripped it off them
