That’s the report going around the last few days.
With Greenwood, yes 100%. Looks a great prospect. Give him a long term deal. He’s unlikely to command a huge wage anyway.
With Pogba, only if he’s committed. No point him signing a new deal for the money if he’d rather be elsewhere. Don’t think signing a new deal would add much to his fee if he goes next summer.
With Lingard, no problem with him signing an extension but by no means should be giving him a pay rise. Apparently he’s on 100k per week which is already too much for his performance level. If he wants more then he should be told to look for it elsewhere.
New deals for Greenwood, Pogba and Jesse?

It’s mental giving Pogba and Lingard a pay rise. We didn’t make the CL and the players were rightly given a 25% paycut and now they may get a payrise. And with Pogba probably leaving next summer he’s gonna get a payrise for no good reason just for the honour of leaving us later down the line. Cheers Ed 🙄

Making really stupid decisions are what Woodward’s utd do. imagine there’s a lot of truth in us doing this.

To be honest it looks like Ole and Phelan have told him to slow the feck down and think.
There seems to be a clear strategy with our latest signings and contract renewals even if it is a bit Brexity.

Any word on Gomes' contract? He's the one I'm worried about seeing as he's free to talk to other teams in January.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not old enough to discuss a pre-contract I don't think. Is that the rule?

It may be best for Gomes to go play in a league where short-asses like him aren’t going to be bullied like I imagine he would be in the PL.
While the PL isn’t the battlefields of big guys like the olden days, Gomes is so small that he makes players like David Silva and co look like giants

I’m happy for them all to be given contracts as king as they know their place. Lingard especially because he should only be a utility player not somebody who starts, he could be useful when shutting down a game.
Everybody should be worried about another Pogba situation happening with Gomes. If he doesn’t start today, it probably means he’s already decided to leave so Ole isn’t giving him games.
Players like him watching Sancho smash it in Germany must give him confidence to go and play elsewhere. Barca/Ajax would be a perfect fit for him if they guarantee him minutes.

Lingard useful for shutting down a game!! I have never heard that one before. In what way us he useful for that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s used for his pressing isn’t he? I know you hate him but you can admit to a couple of things his good at.
For example I absolutely hate watching Lukaku play but he was good at scoring against the small teams and seemed alright out wide in the false 9 system.
Lingard would be by last choice for some of the advanced positions if more than 2 players are injured in each of those positions.

Hate is a pretty strong word. Yes I am not his biggest fan granted.
I get what you are saying regarding pressing. But for me the main components for closing down a game are being strong on the ball, winning the ball back and keeping controlled possession in tight areas. None of which Lingard is any good at. He would get knocked around in an U16 game nevermind first team game. I have always said he should be first out the door attacking wise

I didn’t mean hate as a person, just the way he plays footy.
What you’ve written is a legitimate argument, I’m not going to waste anymore energy making a case for him to stay because we wouldn’t really miss him. 👍🏼

Interesting. Wasn't aware of that - thanks both. That at least gives us some time I suppose.

FM players out there should know this too.

If Pogba is committed, then it's good news... He's our best outfield player and will help attract better players.
It's an easier sell to other incoming midfielders... "Play alongside world cup winning Paul Pogba" ... or "Play alongside a 33 year old Matic".

Even if he is committed I don't think that will deter Raiola from gobbing off to the media.

Think the Pogba one is to maintain his value rather than increase it or him deserving one.
Lingard getting an extension is fine as long as its not a rise.
Greenwood does need one but we should be careful. Rashford was in the same boat and now he earns a hefty wage and being slammed (like players before him were, such as Sterling).
Gomes needs a new contract. I know he's built like a dwarf but I don't think his height is a problem and he doesn't seem as slight as Lingard. He'll be a good player who we should be trying to keep.
