Are we destined ?

Are we destined to be that team/club that shoots themselves in the foot at every opportunity? The latest from Harry Kane below is a prime example that the club and these group of players just haven’t learnt from their mistakes and we are still continuing to fall short.

Harry
“"You can see why the manager is frustrated," said England forward Kane.

"He has been here for five years now and we are still making similar mistakes as we were the first year."

All talk from our players every single time, yet never are these sort of inept performances rectified. I’m not saying we are entitled to win every game, but when you are squandering 2-0 leads and folding like a pack of cards, plus the horrendous form we are currently in counting the back end of last season, you really have to question the mentality of these group of players.

I have questioned it for a long time on here and I have said so many times on here, until we get that monkey off our back and start winning trophies, this will be an occurrence every single season. Winning trophies breeds success and I couldn’t careless what Spurs fans say, we should be winning some sort of trophy with these group of players. A league cup will get the ball rolling, yet our supporters seem to turn their noses up at this and is so frustrating.

Why do they fail to get over the final hurdle every single season? Why are we paying for the same consistent mistakes ? I personally don’t think this set of players will ever win a trophy for Spurs. I think the moment we get within reach, the team freezes and crumbles. The CL final is proof of this. The league cup semi final v Chelsea is proof. Countless domestic cup
Semi final losses and final losses are proof. The league title campaign that saw us come 3rd in a 2 horse race.

Why do Chelsea always seem to get over the line when it comes to trophies ? No one can tell me that Chelsea side that won a European trophy last season was way better than this current Spurs side, yet Chelsea always seem to find a way of adding trophies to their cabinet. Liverpool were bang average in the CL final, yet they are the current European champions, whilst we are left picking up the pieces wondering why we didn’t turn up. All the top clubs win trophies, but we seem to be almost allergic to winning anything. Like I said, I honestly don’t think these group of players will ever deliver a trophy for this club and it’s a real shame considering the talent we know they all have.

This is our fixtures for the next month up until the Liverpool game away. You can argue that with where we should be going with our development we shouldn't be losing any until that game:

Leicester (A)
Colchester (A)
Southampton (H)
Bayern Munich (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)
Red Star Belgrade (H)

European transfer window no longer open and with the resources Poch has we should remain unbeaten in all that time. Aside from possibly the Leicester and Bayern Munich games we should be winning them all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see two defeats in the first four fixtures straightaway. Spurs are not playing well enough to beat either Leicester away or Bayern at home.

Poch is one of the top 3 manager in the premier league.

If you sack him you will go backwards and Arsenal will overtake you.

To answer your question Don...... Yes. Until we prove otherwise. Spurs players, managers all love to talk a big game but never deliver. There is something about the club's culture that is all wrong...... Had tons of good players that couldn't get us across the line so they move on a club with the right mentality so they can have something to show for their career...... Just in recent times.... Bale, Modders, Walker, Sheringham, Berbs, Carrrick, Campbell..... Only a matter of time til it happens with Kane, Eriksen, Dele & Poch will probably be the first to go.

I've said it over & over, with Spurs its all style over substance. The new stadium is so symbolic of everything that's wrong with us.....Like the training ground etc..... Its so fancy its ridiculous, puts our players on a pedestal they don't deserve. Best stadium in the world to watch a team that has shown relegation form for the best part of a year. With Spurs, its all about the experience not the winning football..... It all starts from the top

No chance Mate...... Based on nothing more than your perception that we are bigger club than some of those we have to play !! This thing about the closure of the euro window is a lame excuse from the club for a failure to do their job ! Instead of having players hoping to leave Spurs, we now have players frustrated they couldn't leave Spurs. How many of Jan, Toby, Rose & Eriksen have signed new contracts since the window shut ?

With the injury to GLC , Dele & NDombele looking V rusty & Eriksen swanning about like he coluldn't give a fack you could argue we are in a worse position than when the mkt was open. An easy win against a pub side like Palace has changed nothing

That's the kind of thing Sandy would say. I'm a little more optimistic than you then mate. There are positives to draw from: Son looked really sharp the last game and his form tends to come in spells, Lucas always good for a goal now, we kept our first clean sheet last game and Poch played his strongest possible back 4...so hope he can do the same again.

Don't deny any of that & I admire your optimism but its a bit like pointing out how much better Sissoko was as an individual last season while the team played relegation standard football..... Its not exactly the big picture. I know I'm a little jaded from too many years of watching Spurs..... Hopefully I'll never get quite as bipolar as Sandy...... You keep being positive mate..... Hope you're right and I'm wrong

I am positive although I wasn't exactly saying that's what I think we'll do, I'm saying that's what we should be doing based on our targets this season, which for me is to improve our league form on last season to get closer to City and Pool and win something. But whether you think the club are having problems or not we still shouldn't be losing any of these games.
