United Holding Talks With Angel Gomes

I'd just play him. It's not like we have anyone who can play like he does.

We don’t do we, I just wish Ole would show some bollox against the smaller teams at home and play McT in the holding position with Gomes and Pogba playing ahead of him. Play a high line with Tuanzebe for his pace in case the opposition counter and just go for it.

Gomes is yet to prove anything at senior level, though. Biggest issue with this idea of just throwing the kids in is that Ole has to manage the squad. It’s actually poor man management just to drop all your senior players for untested youth players, which is why nobody ever does it - you’ve got to maintain a healthy dressing room dynamic. Even more so after the nightmare season we had last year and all the issues with Mourinho and the squad harmony.

I’d love to see Gomes, Greenwood, Chong and Garner playing regularly but they need to prove they are ready. As of yet they’ve not done so, and it’s not healthy to be pinning your hopes on these young guys in the first team.

Lampard has done it and they are actually playing excellent football, they even played Liverpool off the park for large periods of the Super Cup game. We’ve already wasted 6 years, I’d rather spend the next couple of years bringing talented players up to speed.

Gomes hasn’t proven anything yet but that’s why he needs chances to do so. Furthermore I more confident in him playing than Lingard or Mata because of the way he keeps hold of possession but remains positive when passing.

I wouldn’t play all of them at the same time either, two maximum in the premier league not including Tuanzebe who just looks ready.

The players Lampard is playing are years older with multiple years of experience in senior football. Not really a comparison. Their respective counterparts in our squad are the likes of Rashford, Periera, McTominay and Tuanzebe. All but the latter are getting plenty of game time.

Gomes will get the chance to do so in the cups and sub apps in the prem. Hopefully he takes his opportunities and forces his way into the team. It’s unrealistic to expect any more than that right now.

It’s more a want then an expectation, Lingard and Mata will continue to play until Ole feels the pressure to change things up. I just pray I never see Mata and Matic line up in the same 11. Id even stop complaining if he just plays Fred with McT so Pogba can push further up the pitch.

Fair enough, but I feel your wants are unrealistic and completely lacking in any thought as to the negative impact it has on the youngsters and the squad harmony. It amazes me this is so often ignored when the idea of player power has never been so prevalent at United than it is now.

I agree about the midfield. Ole’s really causing problems for himself and the team the way he’s setting it up. And the longer it goes on the more likely it is that he loses his job as performances and results will siffer.

Would be interesting to see that.

Ole's biggest problem is playing Pog as a holding midfielder. I'm not sure if it's just trying to stamp his own mark, but it's just not logical, and it hasn't worked when it's been attempted

I don't think this is what anyone is calling for. But I would like to see Gomes given a chance instead of
Lingard for certain. He can't offer any less.
