Expected points after 6 games since 2014/15

and expected goals for and against.

2019/20 We deserved to be 2nd with 13.41 points instead of 8 and we scored 8 and conceded 6 instead of scoring 9.97 and conceding 3.84.

2018/19 We deserved to be 9th with 8.65 points instead of 10 although we scored 9 and conceded 9 we expected to score 9.66 and concede 8.58. Solskjaer ended us deserving to finish 4th instead of the 6th we finished.

2017/18 We deserved to be 2nd with 14.39 points instead of 16 and we scored 17 conceded 2 instead of scoring 15.11 and conceding 4.97. Even then Mourinho reverted to type and we end up deserving to be 6th instead of 2nd.

2016/17 We deserved to be 3rd with 12.07 points instead of 12 and we scored 12 and conceded 7 instead of scoring 10.63 and conceding 5.32 and we deserved to end up finishing 4th instead of 6th.

2015/16 We deserved to be 6th although gap between 3rd to 6th was near the same with 9.72 points instead of 13 and we scored 9 and conceded 5 instead of scoring 6.93 and conceding 5.17. We deserved to be 8th although gap was really small between 5th to 8th and we were unlucky in a few games decisions wise.

2014/15 We deserved to be 8th although gap between 4th to 8th was like near the same and we should of had 9.16 points instead of 8 and we scored 11 and conceded 9 instead of scoring 7.02 and conceding 5.84 and we deserved to finish 4th like we finished.

So the only season we started better was 17/18 season but after that we started playing badly for most of the season and deserved to finish 6th so it could be our best expected points total this season. Solskjaer under pressure yet we have like near the best defence in whole of europe for restricting the opposition mainly due to attacking teams for most of the game and when the opposition attack us they can only create like 2 ok chances at best.

Also currently we are expected to finish on 84.97 points instead of the actual 50.66 we will get if we continue our current form. Just to put that into perspective Liverpool expected to finish on 83.45 points last season.

Only Man City managed higher than 84.97 points on 3 occassions with 85.41 in 16/17 and 17/18 with 91.09 and 18/19 90.64.

So Solskjaer is not to blame as our tactics are great. Its the players fault.

How did I miss this?

It’s just a shame the article only has 2.82 stars rather than the expected 4.87 stars.

Hafi you don’t deserve to win games if you don’t take your chances. I don’t think you understand how football works
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These tables aren't meaningless though. They're a measure of dominance in games and it is interesting how united rank highly in that (more so than Liverpool this season) and City always rank highest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are meaningless because Mourinho won lots of matches where his team's expected goals tally was worse than the opposition's
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How does that make them meaningless? they may not be perfect, but they show something.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They do show something

They show that anyone who tries to derive any sort of beneficial meaning from them should really take up a different sport.

Expected points, what we "deserve"

Load of bollox.

What you deserve is exactly what you get, nothing more, nothing less.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It shows a reflection of dominance in games. I don't think that's completely worthless and I find it interesting.

Liverpool are so lucky. I would be shocked if this poor Liverpool side have a higher expected points than Man Utd this season. They are just fluking win after win.

Crazy thing is since our great run ended we have been playing better and not winning. We went from clinical to near the worst conversion team. The fact is I think only Man City and Liverpool have anywhere near the level of domination Man Utd had since Solskjaer taken over. Our bad form is nothing to do with tactics. Its all on the stupid players costing us easy wins. Everyone likes saying this is the worsrt Man Utd team but its one of our best for dominating in the PL era but worst efficiency at both ends.

I can see Emery parking the bus for 90 minutes and hope for 1 chance all game and knowing our luck that will go in against us. We will need to create about 20 chances to score. Its very clear Emery will park the bus and his side will come to do a smash and grab raid like Palace.

Also that article says we lack creativity when we created more chances than the opposition by far in nearly every league game since Solskjaer had in that bad run. The opposition create like 2-3 chances while we create like 12-15 but we can’t win.

I like Mata royalty. Shame Herrera left as we had a lot of players leave recently.
