Phil Foden needs Premier League minutes

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49796793

We've discussed it before, and not surprising that it's being picked up in the media again.

As Foden prepares for the excitement of a match vs Preston in the League Cup, presumably feeling fresh after his whopping 10 minutes of football this season so far, questions are starting to be asked.

In the summer, Pep said he's the most talented player he'd ever seen.

Where's the evidence?

Is the truth that when push comes to shove, and under the pressure of Liverpool's challenge, Pep just won't put any trust in the youngsters?

Mount at Chelsea is showing that young players can be given a chance to deliver at the top level and presumably City fans will run out of excuses for this situation soon?

Phil Foden looks like nothing but a PR exercise to me.

"Oh look, we are developing young English players".

Pep trusted Foden enough to start him against spurs last season in their toughest game in the title run in. Trust isn't an issue.

So what is the issue then?

Or did Foden do something wrong in that game, to lose his trust?

Really?

That sounds so sincere.

"I have said many times in press conferences, but maybe not said it in front of him, Phil is the most, most, most talented player I have ever seen in my career as a manager.

"His only problem is sometimes his manager doesn't put him in the starting XI. Hopefully in the future that can improve."

Pathetic.

So Foden is the most, most, most talented player Pep has ever seen in his career as a manager?

He's so humble, sincere and honest. He's not condescending and patronising at all.

Yes, I expect to see more involvement for him as the season progresses and depending on how their cup runs go.

It just feels a bit rich to be waxing lyrical about Foden and saying what a shame it is that he doesn't get more game time, when he's the guy who ultimately could change that. All a bit hollow imo.

I don’t think that one game, which came aftet the taxing CL game against Spurs, is an indication that he trusts him given he doesn’t play him in the premier league. That’s fine, and it’s Pep’s call, but people always make excuses for Pep not having trust in the younger players.

Fair point.
