17 games in, 51 goals scored.
29 cup wins in a row, 90 goals scored, 9 conceded.
Our cup form the past 3 and a half years is nothing short of remarkable. I’ll hold my hands up and say I thought last night may be tricky given we planned to make wholesale changes. However, what’s pleasing is the fact the squad players look hungrier than ever to impress.
Can you imagine Ntcham playing in that game last season? A lot of credit must go to lennon for his man management of him. It can’t be taken for granted just how good a footballer Ntcham is. Ironically his worst aspect is his shooting from range, yet he managed to score the goal of the season so far last night, absolute ping from 30/35 yards right in to the tap pokey.
Young Frimpong impressed at right back and earned the man of the match award. What’s the chances of Celtic getting rid of two diddies and ending up with 2 outstanding right backs and a 3rd young one who looks capable of stepping in when needed?
Big Bayo done well and he’s finally off the mark in a Celtic jersey. He offers something different and there’s no doubting there’s talent in there but he needs a lot of fine tuning to become the man to lead the line for us consistently.
Good to see Rogic and Sinclair on the scoresheet, both pretty much been out the picture for different reasons but they can’t be underestimated for what they can still offer the team. Sinclair’s celebration said it all, he’s just choking to play and score goals again and fair play to him for knuckling down. He’s got to be in the squad before Morgan.
That’s now two wins from the 3 in 6 days and the toughest is approaching on Saturday. Hibs will get a wee bounce from their penalty shootout win but they’ll be shattered having to play 120 mins on a plastic pitch. Add in the fact that their best defender, Porteous got a straight red meaning he’ll be suspended for Saturday and we should win comfortably.
We also got Hibs in the draw and on a big pitch we should take care of them quite easily in November. I suspect the Celtic game will be the Sunday

Katic is a big fans favourite because the things he does well get the crowd on his side. He crunches into tackles and he goes through people to win headers for fun.
I think in general the fans are a wee bit short sighted when it comes to his deficiencies though. And I am saying that as someone who is a Katic fan. He is still very rough round the edges and can switch off at crucial times.
His complete inability to read the situation and track Eduoard in the OF game for the first goal was pretty poor (although it was clearly Goldsons mistake that caused the situation).
Katic isn't as good with the ball at his feet as Goldson is. He isn't as mobile and his first touch isn't as good. But he is a stronger more powerful defender.
That Livvy lad last night will cause most defenders a bit of a mare - he plays right on the edge. He was sent off in the game a couple of weeks ago against us and very nearly caught goldson with a high boot last night which he would have seen red for as well.
Livvy were lumping high bouncing balls on a tough astro pitch to a very tall very physical striker all night. That is going to cause most teams problems.
Helander in particular didn't cope with it very well and he clearly isn't the quickest but you can see the good attributes he has. Good in the air, very composed on the deck (except for the one he put straight out for a corner under minimal pressure).
At the moment for me I would still rather see Katic and Goldson as my starting pair in the league.
I think Europe might suit Helander better.

I think its clear that Gerard likes to have one no nonsense defender and one that play. Goldson is his ball playing defender and you can see that all building at the back usually starts with him. Helander and Katic will be the type that will stick their head in where it hurts and would boot their own granny to win a ball.
Thats the reason why Goldson is first choice as we dont have another defender of his ilk to replace him. I dont think he is as bad as folk on here make him out to be.

I agree although I think Helander was known for early long balls <pointy>
Could be wrong, it's happened once before

I like Goldson.
He is asked to do a lot of work with the ball at his feet and is generally very good at it
Goldson played over 50 games last season and only made a couple of howlers. Given the amount of times he is asked to take risks with the ball at his feet at the back that’s no bad.

He's utterly rotten
A ball playing centre back? Never in a month of Sundays.
Ffs..do you actually watch Rangers? At least Zach has an excuse.
