Defence so unsettled

Let’s take a step back from the Poch debate right now and look at one of the huge reasons why we are struggling. There’s so many factors, but the one huge problem we have is basically our whole defence is unsettled and none of them want to be there.

We have Danny Rose at left back who’s been rumoured to leave this summer and was on the list of players to move on, but that failed to materialise. Toby we all know the well documented issues with his contract at this moment in time and he wants out. Vertonghen is clearly unsettled for the 1st time and the rumours of a rift within the camp are certainly not impossible when you consider the issues at the start and his form. We didn’t buy a right back replacement for Trippier and have no real quality recognised right back to slot in ( Aurier is a liability ).

Literally a whole unsettled defence that needs desperately clearing out and totally revamped. It’s no wonder why we are leaking goals left, right and centre. Obviously there’s a lot more issues we need to combat, but this defence is a huge problem.

Complete and utter humiliation. No leadership, a manager who appears to be in denial and like a punch drunk boxer makes the same mistakes over and over again and a group of players who have lost heart. Sort this out Levy. Poch out, Aurier out, Rose out, Eriksen out and if not, you out.

To compound defensive issues, poch plays a stupid diamond system which has proven to not work for us, because we don’t play it with a proper DM. Our midfield is so open that our jokey defence is constantly exposed.

How many facking times does poch have to make the same mistake before he sorts it out he is so stubborn it’s ridiculous. He should have two games to sort this out , and if he persists with the system then I give up

Some managers are that set in their ways that they refuse to change.
It can be an ego thing that they wont admit they are wrong.

Don, the Pochettino era has ended, I have just put up an article stating so.

Time for a rebuild, their will be some pain, but I suspect no humiliations like the last week or so. There has to be a brighter future, than what is on show at the moment. Complete revamp of the defence needed. Unfortunately Toby and Verts are as much of a problem as the fullbacks, age does not wait for any man.

Jan and Toby are clearly past it. They haven't got ANY pace.

Little protection infront of them either. Dier used to be brilliant in that CDM role, and he'd drop back to make a 3 when the full backs pressed up - this NEVER happens anymore.

The gaps between defence and midfield was criminal. Simple balls over the top ripped us open time and time again. Aurier is just hopeless at dealing with anything defensive.

Our entire back four need replacing IMO, Plus we need to replace KWP and Davies too. Keep Foyth and Sanchez and backups, but that's still 6 players we need get in.

Could do with a proper CDM too - Winks is NOT a defensive midfielder.

99.9 per cent of football clubs worldwide sack the manager first.

Why would you want the board out, and leave Poch in place?

Your midfield is a massive problem as well, it’s too easy to play through. Especially with the diamond when your intensity to press - if you even do at all - starts to wane as it leaves the wide areas exposed and so your players get pulled out of position leaving big gaps in the middle.

Really like Winks but he had an absolute stinker yesterday.

He doesnt offer good enough protection for the back 4 and isnt a complete playmaker either.

Sissoko, although is made to look great at times due to his strength and powerful runs, is flattering to deceive. He is not good enough on the ball and now plays to his strengths which on the balance of the whole side isnt actually doing us any favours. Should at least try to use him as a sitting no nonsense DM or something. He is often in a wide CM position hiding from the play until he knows he can become effective.

Ndombele looks very lazy but has a lot of quality. If he had Sissokos energy and tenacity he could be phenomenal in a 2 in a 4231 formation.
