Too clever by a Poch..

Poch is over complicating his management. Some managers have different strengths and what is clear is squad management is not Poch’s.

He has never been good at rotation..

He plays Kane every game then with the same logic rests players that don’t need a rest.

He ignores form and skill and replaces this with sentiment and guesswork.

IF only he could return to the old Poch.

Play your strongest team on form and skill. Use the last 20 mins to give rest IF needed.

In my opinion he should quit this rotation management. Keep it simple and play best players in their favoured positions until they are tired.

Losing is more tiring than winning. So all his theories of rotation mean absolutely nothing when its clear the tactics, training and personnel are damaging the team more than fatigue.

whilst I don’t blame Poch for the defeat to Bayern as that can happen. I blame him for the thrashing.

He behaved like a novice manager in that game and deservedly got thrashed like one. what’s sad is after soo many years of management he has shown little development as a tactician.

his key strength has always been in motivating his teams, hi tempo and aggression. I’m afraid Poch is being found out in 2019. Once the motivation and aggression is gone there is little tactical knowledge.

The best managers know how to use tactics to augment a demotivated or over-powered team. Either through change of personnel or tactics. Poch is getting a lot wrong...he’s benching motivated players and he’s showing lack of tactical knowledge to see out games where we score first and to compact our tactics when we are under pressure.

A Squad with Wanyama Dier Ndombele Sissoko Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen should not be out-fought or defensively porous.

But as a reality check. IF we win the next 3 games most of this will be forgotten. We need our energy back. High press and aggression. We have got complacent with our skill and consecutive Top 4 finishes.

The simplest tactic for us without the ball is we should press as a front 5 and when we get the ball we need to get it to Son and Lucas as quick as possible. We need to isolate them one on one with opposition fullbacks. Son and Lucas can destroy defences the same way Gnabry destroyed ours. The difference is we don’t get our dangerous players the ball soon enough. Slow build up play does not suit our personnel. We have pacy, skilful forwards in Lucas and Son and we should use them.

Over to you Poch....Here’s to moving on...COYS!!

I would like us to go back to playing a proper DM.
He should bring Dier back once he is fit.

That is a major issue for us, not sure Dier is the solution though, would be No1 on my shopping list along with RB and back-up striker, if we leave till end of season will be 3 or 4 more

I don't really get his approach to Eriksen, he's not freezing him out completely nor is he showing faith in him to start games.

With the likes of Walker he just said, if you're off you're not playing. Eriksen is obviously more important as he's one of your best players, but if thats the case then just play him, you can't replace him at this moment in time anyway.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Huge difference is walker said he wanted out a couple games before the end of the season where we are “stuck” with eriksen for a whole season.

Overall we are currently stacked in the AM position and imo he’s trying to keep everyone happy and probably annoying them in doing so
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it only a couple of games? I thought it was last few months, though I could well be wrong.

----------------

this is the big one for me. he ignores form (or lack of it) when it comes to his favourites.

The team never seems to be selected on merit. Lamela is the classic example.... been one of our best players so far this season, then inexplicably dropped for a few games...

its strange.. some of the team sheets look like they have been picked out of a hat.

if you are one of his boys you probably play even when you don't deserve to. if you are not then you will be in out in out shake it all about, and never be able to play yourself into any kind of form.....

moura is a good example. if given 5 starts in a row i reckon he would be a goal machine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally agree. If I was Moura I'd have been expecting to be in the CL Final. Would have been on cloud 9 as it was a given. Then a let down.
The guy must be thinking what's the use even now, always in his mind thinking "wow I have 5 minutes here, what's the use, probably be on the bench next game". In fact, most of the players are probably on edge. Never knowing when they're going to be playing next. Talk about ADHD-inducing.

Lamela is a doubly good example, because first game of every season he's straight in the first XI despite missing/being garbage for the vast majority of the season before.

Good post OP, agree with most of it.
