Spurs Young Players

Morning All..... TGIF !!!

Simple question, for all the hype Re Poch and his strength with bringing through young players to the 1st team squad... It all seems to have gone very quiet. For all the chat about Parrott (He's still very young & realistically has very limited opportunities behind Kane, Sonny, Moura. I know Tangana is around the squad but seems unlikely to get a game even with Jan & Toby showing their age.

Granted Chelsea's situation this year is unique but they are LOADED with talented youngsters who will save them millions going forward. Arsenal all of a sudden seem to be giving game time to young players esp in the EL but they all seem to be performing (That kid on loan at Leeds is scoring regually). Even United, despite their current woes have lots of young players getting game time.

I know Kane & Winks are the best 2 examples but both are now full internationals and are not considered young. I think most probably agree KWP isnt good enough, Skipp looks like a "poor mans Winks" and our younger players than we brought in cheap & developed (Dele & Dier) seem to have regressed.

Given the complacency that seems to have crept in, the lack of competition for places & the ongoing saga about our transfer business, is there a reason we are not seeing more success in our youth development.

Poch seems to have morphed from this coach willing to trust in youth to being very stubborn/ same old system with same crappy results..... I mean are we really in such a place where bringing Wanyama off the bench offers us anything ? I mean, he's finished as a top level pro.

Maybe I'm missing something, just feels like we have been overtaken or maybe Poch was getting credit for something for a while now he didn't really deserve ?. We sign Clarke, loan him back & from what I've read.. doesn't play ?????

Id love to think the next 2 windows are gonna transform the squad but lets be honest we know with Levy that aint gonna happen and the fact he's now faced with 150mln quids worth of players walking out for nothing aint gonna help

Simple question... Are there players that have a realistic chance or have their been changes that have halted their development ? It seems like the England youth set up goes from Strength to strength but I don't hear too many of those players coming from Spurs

Just feels as thought this Spurs team got old very quickly

Just curious & I'm the first to admit I don't follow our youth programs that much

Cheers

Chelsea spent millions on those youngsters sending them out on loan. They would not have been given a chance if they had not have got that transfer ban.

You’re mistaken, why would we spend millions to another club to send our own player to them. We receive loan fees for players, and depending on the deal may help with their wages. On the latter, maybe true but also, with Lampard in charge, maybe not.

I think you misread that comment. You spent millions on young players which you then sent out on loan. Any loan deal would defo cover their wages and probably a club fee. We will never know as far Frank is concerned. Had he had the usual blank cheque would he have used it or not? On balance I think not.

Agreed.

Ah I did misread your comment - but the reason I did is because none of the players coming back from loan are players we’ve spent ‘millions on’, they’re literally all academy players. James, Abraham, Mount, Tomori, RLC, CHO (although he hasn’t been on loan) have all been with the club since U10s. Christensen has been with club since 15 for a small fee from Brondby.

i don't get whats happening with clarke, we're not scoring and he's not playing so bielsa must see that he's not up to it.

We need to be loaning more players out.

Foyth would be another youngster being played if he weren't injured, and likely to be better than any of our other options at right back so far this season. When he's fit I think he'll end up being the most regular one.

There was a Leeds fan on here (you?) who said that Clarke had been given a run of games by Bielsa and he’d been rubbish
