It’s Liverpool at the weekend and I have to start this article with a confession. It was this team that actually got me interested in football. As I came from a family where nobody really played or went to football matches I had no parental influence in my formative years. Liverpool were the team on telly then: winning European Cups and loads of other trophies. My first ever game was Leicester v Liverpool as a young Jobyfox – and I wanted to see Kenny Dalglish. Of course Leicester won that game 2-1 (as they generally did defy logic and play well against Liverpool) and I eventually became old enough to get to football matches myself, or with friends, I turned blue and the roller coaster started.
Liverpool are one of the illustrious top six. They were when I started watching football and they are now. Others have come and gone, but Liverpool have remained a big team. Of course their domination of the top tier trophy has ended and they’ve had to watch as Arsenal took over their domination and then Manchester United – then Chelsea – then Manchester City. They’ve won other stuff, but they must be desperate for a Premier League trophy. Even upstarts like Blackburn Rovers and a little team that play in blue have won it more recently than them. Could this be their year? The annoying thing, for them, is in virtually any other season they’d be the best team in the country and win at a canter, but for the irritation that is Manchester City. Just like last season it should be one of those two that win, but both will be miles ahead of anyone else.
I’ve quite a few memories of playing against Liverpool. Who could forget Wes Morgan being penalised for the crime of being hit in the face by the ball? But my favourite game is a recent one. Our glorious Premier League win had many “we just might" moments, but one of the ones that stands out for me is that home game against Liverpool – and that Vardy goal! It was a moment that typified Vardy’s form that season and the fact that we could beat just about anyone.
So what about Saturday? They’re top – we’re doing ok. We’ve looked good in a few games, but poor in a few others. The team and formation has been debated to death on another thread, but my view is that this game is a free hit. We could pick any players, any formation and any team and still get beat – because the opposition are one of two teams who are a little way ahead of us. So why approach the game that puts damage limitation first, lose, and then wonder what might have been?
I’d go with the following:
Schmeichel
Ricardo, Soyuncu, Evans, Chilwell
Ndidi
Albrighton, Tielemans, Maddison (or Praet if Maddison is not fit), Barnes
Vardy
Let’s give ourselves a puncher’s chance and see what happens ….

My worry is that in our last 3 major games, Chelsea, Sheff Utd and Salzburg, we’ve basically had to hang on for 3 points.
That has to change - hopefully on Saturday. I really want to see a top Liverpool performance from start to finish.

Will be a tough contest tomorrow, Leicester have some very good players and we will need to be 100% focussed and clinical I'm front of goal if we are to take 3 points.
I am hoping Klopp freshens up the side with some rotation, especially in the midfield as I felt we laboured to that win on Wednesday. I'd like to see Hendo make way for Miller and Gini out for either Keita or Ox. We will need some creativity of we are going to break Leicester down and those two are the ones we should be looking to for creating chances. Best of luck lads, may the best team win. (Liverpool that is!

Ssssssssssssssstupid thread.
My first home game of the season this. Looking forward to taking my place in one of the worst stands in the premier league. I cannot wait until Liverpool renovate that flipping away end!
I’m the cautious one here and I think we’ll get destroyed if we go all out attack. We leave loads of space in between the lines when we do and that’s where Firmino can hurt us.
That said I’d like an attacking 4-2-3-1 where our full backs push up to make AA and Robertson think about what they do. Let’s not forget Liverpool have looked defensively uncomfortable with a high line. Sit back, win the ball - pass to Maddison - pass to Vardy in behind. Goal. Repeat.
Can only result in victory. Surely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not about all out attack, more about balance. Press them and force them into making mistakes but keep solid when we're out of possession and then have the players to play early balls to Vardy. When they're attacking they're defence will be pushed up so that's when we can get in behind. But as I said it's all about balance and 4-1-4-1 gives us that balance and also the players to cause damage.

Hopefully not.
You've got nothing to moan about, City's stinginess in not coughing up the extra £10M for Harry has already cost them.
More to the point, you may not have played to your best over the last 3 games but still managed to get three wins - always the sign of a very good side. Also managed to get a perfect start to the season without the services of your outstanding goalkeeper (although another fumble would be most welcome if he's playing today)
Liverpool so nailed on for the title.

It is difficult to see anything other than a Liverpool victory. You could say that pretty much every round of games at the minute. But this could be the best time to play them. Coming off the back of some dogged slightly fortunate victories, unsettled back 5 and the inevitablility of dropping a point or two at some point along the way.
Will be extremely happy with a point today. That will do
