Jenas has come out saying that "the club have let the manager down" and he would hope he stays around for a rebuild for what is a stale team.
He isn't the only one holding the same opinion but here we have geniuses on the forum blaming Pochettino for it all and somehow expecting a new manager is going to change how we fundamentally operate as a club!
Pochettino has been our best manager for decades. Despite achieving CL football almost every year and a CL final we have still not backed him properly and demand the same high expectations with limited resources.
Two windows without a single purchase and sale of Dembele was criminal. People need to get out of their feelings and look at the bigger picture.
Liverpool and Spurs were at similar levels. Now we see the consequences of their actions. One investing very smartly and the other sitting around negotiating with the NFL.

Dont liverpool and leicester have a greater net spend though, get your point, but it's all on the quality of the business. Our transfer business over the last 3 years has been nothing short of appalling.

Its about the players on the pitch.
They're supposed to be good enough to beat Brighton.
But only some of them are playing like they want to be there.
What we need is 4 Moussa Sissoko's on the field.
Then we'd be winning things.

These teams didn’t have class players at the club (who are still here) at the start of that time frame though. Nor did they have someone like Harry Kane come through the academy......

I use this analogy all the time too, frustrates the hell out of me (and the fact I I live just outside London and am surrounded by mouthy Pool fans?).
We were both on a level pegging at the start of Klopp's tenure, both rebuilding/remodelling respective clubs but they've spent and most importantly, spent wisely that has enabled them to have a marked improvement year on year. We, on the other hand got no better and up until this season, no worse.
Poch has done well considering compared to the backing given to Klopp and to be fair to Levy, we've also had a near billion pound new stadium but I'm not sure our scouting network would have found the gems anyway. And, if we had found them, we would have waited until the last hour of the transfer window to get said player.
All bizarre and utterly frustrating to see a club (Liverpool) who were on the same level as us do everything the right way and progress. Us, we now have a lovely, shiny stadium and taring facility with crap performances, humiliating new records being made, no sign of a raft of great new kids knocking on the door (Parrot exception?). Liverpool have been loaning out their best and now blooding them.
Pains me to say it but, Liverpool are the club we need to look at with respect to a model of progression.

We were. We were the ones in the better position to challenge for the title. If Liverpool win the league which is looking likely now, it should be the bitterest pill to swallow for us knowing the 2 clubs were just 4 years ago.

My point is if those clubs can afford to then so can we. Having a starting core that's better is the advantage we have and players like Kane coming through are the luck you need.
So instead of spending £100m on two brilliant strikers. Someone like Kane coming through should remove some of that burden so we end up with two quality strikers for a total £50m outlay.
What we have done is end up with one quality striker for £0 and pocketed the £50m effectively. Goes back to my other thread where if this is how we want to do business then fine. But then we need to stop pretending to be a top club and lower our expectations to top four with a fluke trophy if and when it happens.

They have greater net spend yeah and they have also spent it more wisely too. It's not as if we have bought much players to judge the quality. We have brought in what 4 players in 2 years?! Of whom one is on loan. One is settling in and two are injured one of which is a loan signing as it stands.

Yeah but covered it in another thread actually. Liverpool and Spurs have similar net spends for 5 years but your team cost £500m compared to our £260m odd. Which means you had head start. Also your wages are insanely higher than ours.
