Change It Up

I just want to highlight one particular comment of Ole's in his post-match interview yesterday.

"We've not changed a lot, we're still playing the same way."

Well clearly the way he's trying to play and the way he's setting up his team isn't working so why not at least attempt to do something different?

We've played with pretty much the same blueprint since Chelsea. A 4-2-3-1 which essentially ends up as a 4-2-4 with our attackers in very advanced positions which is leaving a chasm of space between the midfield and attack.

Our midfielders aren't good enough in possession as it is without increasing the distance between them and the forwards. There's also very little movement off the ball in transition leaving the player on the ball short of passing options which is one of the reasons besides a lack of quality why our approach play never really goes anywhere and why we're so easy to defend against.

How does Ole expect to build meaningful attacks and create genuine chances with a failing set up like this as well as playing players out of position?

This experiment of Pereira playing from the right has lasted long enough. Yes he'll maybe put in one or two decent crosses into the box per game but it's not anywhere near enough of a trade-off because of how ineffective he is in everything else he does in that role.

Ole needs to find some solutions quick to help his team because if he carries on employing the same system and tactics, he's only speeding up the inevitable.

At this point I don't see him being here for too much longer anyway but he's got to change something and give himself half a chance.

I joked about getting Welbeck on a free this summer. Probably should have looking at it now.

Any signings will be done around the 20th January I’d imagine.

Any reason for that? Chinese New Year for our Asian fans!

Mandzukic would have added something different.

Ben Yedder can play.

Both vastly experienced. Who starts for Utd outfield that has been around the block and won stuff? Pogba. That's it. Sure there is Mata and Matic but still.

Rashford has been fast tracked too quickly imo and I reckon it may ruin him. I rate him personally but he's on a massive contract as Utds number 9. Its too much too soon imo. Ive not checked minutes but he's a similar strike rate to Bentdner now.

His movement has been criticised by pundits, rightfully, but melton made a good point that he does make long hard runs outside the box. In it he's been mince and I saw one moment where he stayed on the edge if the box almost as though he wasnt showing for the ball. I think he's struggling with the responsibility and tbf it's not surprising at his age. He should have 19 on his back at this stage of his career at a club like Utd

I'd also go in for Bruno Fernandes. I've not seen that much of him but his stats are impressive and he'd at least be a threat from range.

7 goals and 5 assists already this season.

Nah just a date I plucked out of thin air that was well into January.

Pressure looks like it’s getting to Rashford, Robbing.

I feel sorry for him. It’s not his fault we are in this situation.

25 is Chinese New Year so there may be some merit to it!

TRS those are impressive numbers.

Bet we end up signing that Haaland lad. Because obviously what we need is another young forward to cardy the weight of the goal scoring burden at Manchester United.

He'd be fine as a long term buy but we really do need some good, experienced players in our first XI and squad. The Class of 92 needed that to succeed so the youngsters today will certainly need it.

Yeah we need top quality proven players to play alongside the younger talent.
