Worst Post-SAF defensive signing?

5 - Shaw
Caused a big division on the Utd board when he signed. 1st season was bit part because of injury. Came into the 15/16 season like a steam train until a horrific injury. 16/17 marked by further injury and poor treatment by Jose. Came back to be POTY last season but lost the attacking verve he showed as a youngster.. Currently injured.

4 - Lindelof
We tried technically good but laughable as a defensive proposition once before when Berbatov played 10 mins as a CB against Leeds. It didn't catch on and it shouldn't now. Has a similar points per game record to Chris Smalling, below Jones, Rojo and Bailly. Most relieved man at Old Trafford when AWB temporarily took his most expensive defender record.

3 - Bailly
An injury record that would make Darren Anderton blush. Looked a diamond in the rough in his first year but has progressively gotten worse. Had to be rescued midway through the first half against PSG to prevent an Eboue-style on pitch nervous breakdown. Still only 25 but injured long-term and out of contract in June.

2 - Darmian
August 2015 player of the month. October 2015 is absolutely rinsed by Sanchez against Arsenal and never regained that initial form. Barely seen after Jose's first season but never appeared to complain. Started EL final and played half of 2016 FA Cup Final. Inexpensive.

1 - Rojo
£16m for a player to cover LB and CB who had just played in a world cup final and is now in his 6th Premier League season. Maintains incredible distinction at not being sent off yet in his Utd career. Marauded into City's dressing room bare-chested. Has been one of Utd's most potent attacking forces this season in his starts so far but is usually lumped into the useless category with others,

He doesn’t need to be. He was £80m, that automatically gives him the title.

Darmian, Rojo, Dalot, in that order so far for me.

When you can’t get close enough to Young in training to get any kind of run of games, well, that’s very unfortunate.

A total of 32 PL appearances in his last three seasons with us. Even fewer than Rojo.

Dalot, really? Why?

Because he looks to me like a terrible defender, and I’m yet to be convinced by him going forward.

Shaw and Lindelof are clearly better players, and Bailly usually is when he isn’t crocked.
