Ole interview with Nevile

Decent read. Covers plenty.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11837178/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-meets-gary-neville-manchester-united-boss-on-his-future-and-transfer-plans

We will make moves if the right players are available and Ole wants experience. Could we see Ibra back?

Ole and Mike tell the scouts what type of player they want, scouts identify them, if they are gettable then Judge negotiates and Ed signs the cheques.

We all know that SAF retiring was a blow. However, surely the powers that be should have made sure when he left that there was a proper structure in place to cushion that blow and ensuring our continued success.

If you can see that here on JA606 then surely the club should have seen it to. I honestly think there's an arrogance about a lot of our board and chief exec thinking we're too big to fail. Woodward'a comments I've just seen tonight just smacks of arrogance or, perhaps even worse, shows he's blind to the issues at the club.

________

When you consider history shows the club had already been down this road it' makes their lack of foresight even more staggering.
6 years on watching Woodward still as clueless as ever is painful to watch

Easier said than done.

Not really. Not if you're competent.

You think replacing SAF was easy? Wow. You should work in football.

Where exactly has diafol mentioned replacing saf

He said it was just as easy to do it (continue our success under SAF) as say it. SAF was the key to that success.

I didn't say it was going to be easy at all. It would have been a damn sight easier though had we planned for that eventuality years ago. Remember SAF was on a one year rolling contract so him leaving was potentially only ever one year away.

Any top company would have some contingency for their main man leaving if on such a short contract. There's blame attached before Ed arrived at United to be fair but the genius of SAF and the competence of Gill meant we could ride it then. Once SAF left though we should have looked to change the way things were done behind the scenes to ensure that nothing was ever down to just the one (genius) man.

You cant have someone on standby for when SAF decided to call it a day though.

SAF and to a greater extent Gill really cost us by going together, leaving nobody in the club to oversee the transition from SAF to his successor.

SAF then further cost us by plumping for Moyes (admittedly after others turned it down)

From there it was really a baptism of fire for Ed. Yes he has made msitakes, but everyone does. But he is not solely to blame for everything thrown at him. Look at the managerial appointments.

LVG was the best available at the time, Jose was a no brainer as he guaranteed success and Ole is there to keep things ticking over whilst the squad overhaul happens.
