Wolves are assessing the fitness of Diogo Jota, Romain Saiss, Pedro Neto and Morgan Gibbs-White
@alistairmann01: A month ago, Southampton moved up to 10th with a victory at Sheffield United as Wolves slumped to 19th following a crushing defeat by Chelsea; their fortunes have changed dramatically since.

Wanderers may have initially been affected by their European travails but, perhaps now more accustomed to the schedule, are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run, culminating with a stunning victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Saints will arrive at Molineux having not added another point since Bramall Lane; nobody would be surprised if it was they that ended the weekend in the bottom three, while Wolves move into the top 10 for the first time this season.

VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo: "It's always the same, we always try to build on our performances. Southampton is a totally different game.

"All of the games are tough. Southampton is a very good team with a very good manager. We've seen that, we've analysed them and tomorrow will be a tough challenge."

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on regrouping during the international break: "I think the good thing was that we had a lot of players here and not so many players away, which gave me the chance to work with them on a few weaknesses in our game.

"We must defend better when you lose the ball, and this is something we've been working on for the last two weeks."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION

Wolves
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Wolves have won four of the past five meetings in all competitions.
However, they have only won once in the last 10 top-flight encounters - 2-0 at home in September 2018 (D2, L7).
Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are vying to equal their club record of three consecutive Premier League wins.
They could keep three top-flight clean sheets in a row for the first time since 1981.
This is their 100th Premier League game at Molineux (W34, D24, L41).
Wolves have lost just one of their last 12 home league games, winning seven and drawing four.
They have used seven different starting line-ups in their eight league matches this season, having gone nine matches from the start of last season without making a single change.
Southampton

Southampton have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games, drawing four and losing seven.
They could lose four consecutive Premier League fixtures for the first time since April 2018.
Six of their seven points this season have been earned away from home - a league-high 86%.
Their tally of four away clean sheets this season in all competitions is just two fewer than they kept in 23 away games last season.
Danny Ings could score in four successive appearances for the first time.
He is looking to score in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since January 2015.

I've been a bit surprised at some of the criticism of yesterday's performance, I thought we were the better side and probably just about deserved a win. Saints were much more organised and it was sloppy play from us which presented then their best chances.

It's that sloppy play though that is blighting our season, we're far too casual in possession in our own half. We end up letting poor sides in to games with daft mistakes. And so many times this season we've had free kicks in what should be dangerous positions but have ended up conceding possession around it own area. We're far too keen at times to try to keep thre ball in non threatening positions than get to ball in to dangerous areas.

I do think a lot of the sloppiness you talk about oldgold came yesterday from Vallejo replacing Bennett. We played really well in the first 15 minutes but that change unsettled us much more than it should have done. Vallejo it has to be said just isn’t looking up to the mark. His positioning, passing and comfort on the ball are all questionable and it’s amazing for a player that seems to have successfully come through the ranks at Real Madrid.

We were also handicapped by Bertrand doing well to cut off the supply to Traore, and Cutrone who adds a lot but just isn’t an ideal partner for Jiminez. We had a lot more going for us in the final third once Jota was on. But Jiminez looked much more like his old self after his break and I thought Jonny and Dendoncker had a really good second half

I didn’t think we played too bad to be honest, certainly not as bad as some of the tripe I’ve seen on social media

Halfy stays !

For what it's worth, I reckon Gem and Halfie make a decent partnership, both competent in their own roles. Might be interesting though to shake it up a bit one week and go with HM on the preview and put Gem upfront on the match thread? Could try it for thre carabao cup game perhaps and see how it goes?
