It’s been muted that temporary subs could be used in the fight against dementia in footballers. Lots of research been done into this.
I suppose it would work much the same way as a blood substitution in rugby.
A good idea in my opinion. No amount of money or fame can buy health, and dementia is a horrible disease. A relative of mine went through it, and it’s painful to see them waste away, both mentally and physically.
The sooner they bring it in the better, although I’m unsure how they will implement it.
RDD need not comment.
Temporary subs.

They cannot stop games to check everyone who needs their head examined cos then we'd need to examine 67,000 people at Old Trafford who have turned up to watch the garbage on display!
That's coming from a big Man Utd fan as well btw.

the way football players dive around atm they will be faking this for a tactical advantage, all your subs been used and your take a 1-0 lead late np tell a player to drop to the floor after a challenge and get a lanky defender on

Or teams will have specialist free kick takers on the bench and bring them on for head injuries caused around the box.

prob too many examples to list, would never work, reason it works in rugby is because its a badge of honour to stay on if your hurt so 99.9% of the time you go off when you have no other choice

Not looked into this, but i assume they 'tested' this against former footballers who are now quite old, if so surely the changes to the ball i.e being lighter mean its no longer valid for the people playing today(cant think of a better way to put it)

A fine, sincere idea ruined by the cheating nature of humans in general, not just in sport. It would be taken advantage of often and immediately, and that's a damned shame.
