Is the Media too lenient with the FA

regarding their shambolic implementation of VAR? The whole thing is a farce now and it looks like every single weekend we plunge new depths with VAR.

Jarred Gillett was the VAR official for Arsenal's clash with Palace. A 32-year-old Australian, Gillett has never taken charge of a Premier League game, with his refereeing experience in England limited to nine Football League fixtures.

I raised the issue of english referees refusing to use the monitor to confirm their decisions because apparently it will prevent wasting time. By trying to be smart and inovative the English FA have thrown the whole system into chaos because we actually now have 2 main match officials in a single football match as we saw at the Emirates yesterday.

I mean several top leagues implemented VAR last season, just do the research and learn from them, and not try to be too clever. Now players have seen a loop hole in a shambolic system and are using it to their advantage with specific players simply waiting for a touch to go down in the box with absolutely no intention of scoring or doing anything for that matter.

The FA are essentially accountable to themselves and I feel the media is not taking them to task and is giving them room to manoeuvre and ruin the integrity of the english game.

The decision at the Emirates was mind blowing and it got me thinking which ones are the worst this season. For me

1. Disallowed Third goal at the emirates
2. The trip on deulofeu at Spurs
3. Ben Godfrey so called foul on Daniel James.
4. Chris wood controversially ruled goal against Leicester
5. Michael Keans ridiculous so called stamp on Aaron Connolly

The media are but there is also an issue with fans and media not knowing what VAR is exactly for. If this was clear and the media actually did its thing, they'd be taking the FA to task. It isn't surprising though. Media folk need to be chummy with certain people to. Get scoops. You see it in other parts of the media too, when they're told something and then print it as fact.

If VAR overturn a decision I think refs should look at the screen.

There have been plenty of examples I think refs would come to the right decision with a second viewing.

I think it has been an absolute shambles in all honestly. I hate how every goal now we have to wait for VAR to properly celebrate, and by then the moment is gone. The ref in the middle is no longer in charge. I not sure about other countries but if we are going to have VAR in football, shouldn't it be the exact same system all over. I thought the world cup had it's issues but they were much better than this.

The two main arguments for VAR were that 1) it would not slow the game down...well it has, and 2) it would eliminate the really controversial decisions, it hasn't, in some cases it has added to it.

1 and 3 were wrong and very bad decisions, but I agree with 2 and 5
4 was the hardest to call, still don't know

When you are actually at a game var is joke. Sometimes they tell you there is a review sometimes they don’t. You are never told why a decision is under review and the reviews still take forever. At City’s game on Saturday the review of the second goal took a full 3 minutes. Add to that the complete inconsistency in its application. It is Chit.

In the other top leagues around the world the ref himself looks at the monitor to make his decision.
But noooooooo , we just had to be different , you know , because we are England after all.
These VAR controversies were always going to happen

Can anyone tell me what the point of the Ref's monitor is, has it been used in the PL yet?

A few fixes if it is going to persist:

Offsides - Change the law back to the "daylight" between defender and attacker. It results in an attacking advantage and we won't see goals disallowed for a mm of somebody's shoulder being offside.

Let the referee have a look if he's not sure of something rather than somebody in a control centre combing over every incident. Except in incidents of serious foul play like a two footer that has been missed

automatic yellow card for any player making that stupid tv screen sign.

The authories have been really reactionary with regards it's use. They were getting criticised for it being used too much, then it was under used, now it's back to over use. they need to make up their minds. "Clear and obvious" does't seem to be defined very well.
