Dion Sanderson says it would “mean a lot" to be given the opportunity to make his first-team debut at Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.
Wolves come into the game having earned a 4-2 victory on penalties against Reading in the previous round, a result that saw Nuno’s men earn a fourth-round clash against the Villains. Sanderson was an unused substitute against the Royals and hopes to go one better at Villa Park.

On the trip to Villa Park

“It would mean a lot to play against Villa. I have to wait for my chance and be patient, mentally I have to be ready as well, because anything can happen – I have to be ready.

“It’s a big game, we definitely want to win."

On working with Nuno and the squad

“I’m getting along really well with the lads and I’m comfortable training with them. Every day is a learning day with the gaffer and with the players that you’re training with - I am really enjoying it.

“In terms of my progress, I am coming along really nice to be fair. Since we went away [to China] and we came back, it has given me a lot to think about in terms of where I want to be and how I want to move forward with my career.

“I’ve kept myself hungry in terms of being around the first-team. I want to be on the bench and I want to be playing, so I have to keep my two feet on the ground, be humble and keep training hard."

On the open training session

“It’s like home isn’t it? Everyone coming to watch you train, it feels good and it’s nice to give something back, as they come to support us throughout the whole season.

“I was here when I was a younger lad. It means a lot to you when all of the players come up to you and sign your stuff. So yeah, it’s great, it’s fantastic."

I think we would have still sold our allocation of 5,400 regardless of the team selection. It may well not have been the same 5,400 supporters, but we would have sold out for sure. 🐝

It’s a moot point because tickets are sold well before the team is chosen but I heard a lot of unhappy comments last night and this morning from people who regret going. I go to the vast majority of away games and regardless of results I can’t remember the last time I wished I hadn’t

Agreed it's a moot point, but you did bring it up.

I spoke to hundreds of real fans last night, and even more this morning, that said they would have loved to have gone (if they could have got tickets) regardless of the team sheet. 🐝

I haven't spoken to hundreds of fans who didn't go to the game so your view definitely carries more weight than mine

I didn't go but I did watch most of it and I am aggrieved that I won't get that time back and use it more wisely for cutting my hair, having shave or just taking a nap.

I've spoken to thousands of unreal supporters and they all agree with me on everything.

Might be controversial but didn't see that much difference from our regular side in an attacking sense and starting to think Jimenez and Jota deserve medals for scoring as regular as they do

I believe that you always field your strongest team and that it's fundamentally dishonest and amounts to cheating not to.

I didn't watch it last night so can't really comment on the performance, It didn't sound great though. If the likes of Jordao, Chem Campbell, Taylor Perry, Max Kilman and Dion Sanderson took something from it though; then that has to be considered a plus point.
