Week 6

Wolves v Southampton

Experience told today as Wolves dominated in large spells of the game, they took the lead quite early when Silva played a cute pass into Mahrez who had cut inside, he beat the CB and fired home, they doubled their lead when again Silva was creator this time a through ball to Cutrone who smashed it home under the keeper

Second half Wolves relaxed a little and Southampton came more into it, Tielemans showing why he is valued so highly trying to get a foothold in midfield, he did well to set up M.Kean who dinked it over the on rushing GK to get a goal back, however it wasn't to last too long as Benzema coming on for Cutrone and late on he scored a penalty after being brought down in the box by Pickford to make it 3-1

Wolves 3 - 1 Southampton

Mahrez(Silva, 17), Cutrone(Silva 43), Benzema(Pen, 86)
M.Kean(Tielemans, 54)
MOTM - D.Silva

Liverpool v Newcastle

Ilike both teams here, especially the forward lines, today however, Newcastle coped better than the Liverpool back 4, midfield was a war which neither dominated or won but was fascinating to watch, chances were few and far between, with neither team controlling proceedings. Robertson had a run and cross but Firmino missed as did Kane at the other end, with much of the play in midfield, there wasn't that much else to talk about chance wise. In fact the whole game was pretty much like this and it would take something special to win it, on 78 mins, Robertson down the left, inside to Jorginho, back to Robertson who continued his run, he drove passed Trippier to the bye line, cut it inside to Reus who had cut inside his first time ball to Firmino then a cheeky back heel from the striker back to Reus who belted it in to the corner, a wonderful goal and one that won the match for Newcastle

Liverpool 0 - 1 Newcastle

Reus(Firmino, 78)
MOTM - Robertson

Arsenal v Portsmouth

Arsenal going well in the league started well putting pressure on the Portsmouth defence, pushing the wingbacks back, Pepe got the better of Atal on 13 and swung in a cross which Auba met and scored. The game swung back and forward and Werner struck next after a lovely through ball fro Verratti on 34, 1-1 at half time, neither boss that happy by the looks of things. A mistake by AWB letting the ball run out of play when it came off him allowed Arsenal to go back in front from the corner as Marquinhos rose above everyone to head home on 63. Subs made by the away side and was effective straight away as they scored by going more attacking AWB down the right to Jovic who then played in Alacer to drill home under the keeper, Portsmouth went for it but Arsenal stood their ground and eventually began to control the midfield slightly and they made it count when Draxler dithered on the ball near the end, Doucoure ripped it off him, played it quickly to Maddison, who turned quickly and played it over the defnce to Vardy to chase, he got there first rounded the on rushing keeper and it was 3-2 to Arsenal and game over

Arsenal 3 - 2 Portsmouth
Aubameyang( Pepe, 13), Marquinhos(Modric, 63), Vardy(Maddison, 89)

Werner(Verratti, 34), Alcacer(AWB, 67)

MOTM - Maddison

Tottenham 1 Leicester 1
-------------------------------Felix 15
Aguero (De Bruyne 34)
MOTM - Rodri

A very close match with both teams cancelling each other out. Leicester's 3atb formation was effective against Spurs fearsome attack and their tactics were well thought out to handle the Spurs attack. Leicester got the opening goal when a long range shot from Rodri was too hot for Courtois to handle and Felix was the quickest one to react to the loose ball to blast home the opener. Spurs came back with a couple of decent chances but Rodri put in a world class tackle on De Bruyne who was looking to shoot from just outside the box. The equaliser came after good work by Silva saw him find some space to play in Aguero who rifled in a first time shot. Both teams had a couple of half chances but a draw was a fair result today.

Man City 2 Bournemouth 1
Lewandowski (Bruno 26)
Lewa 35 PEN
-----------------------------------------Oyarzabal (Gomez 58)
Mukiele 72
MOTM - Lewandowski

A close game in which Bournemouth were unlucky not to get anything out. Bournemouth started off bright!y with Oyarzabal looking particularly lively on the wings and the midfield 3 of Bournemouth matching City in the middle of the pitch. City got the opening goal against the run of play as a through ball from Bruno saw Lewa peel away from the defender to score the opener. Things got worse for Bournemouth as Gnabry used his pace and dribbling ability to win a penalty as Lodi stuck a trailing leg out which caused Gnabry to fall and the ref to point to the spot. Lewa stepped up to smash home the ball to the right side of the keeper. Bournemouth pulled one back shortly after the break after good hold up play from Gomez saw him lay the ball off to Oyarzabal to rifle home a left foot shot into the top corner. City were a bit under the kosh and they were reduced to 10 men when Mukiele got show a red card for a dangerous 2 footed tackle on Oyarzabal. Bournemouth had the momentum and had a couple of good chances to grab the equaliser but Areola made some fine stops to earn the victory for the home side.

Norwich 1 Chelsea 2
Dolberg (Brooks 16)
---------------------------------Neymar (Lacazette 9)
---------------------------------Pogba (Mbappe 40)
MOTM - Guaita

Norwich put up a valiant effort here but Chelsea's attack was too hot for the Norwich defence to handle and they would have let in more if it weren't for a world class performance from Guaita.
