We want players that want to play with us. Lukaku towards the end simply faded away. He wanted out. Why keep a player (regardless of his goal scoring threat) who's heart was elsewhere? Whilst wasting big wages on him too.

The offer to sell him - which was a good one for once, made financial sense.

Us not being able to get a replacement for him, may have had other reasons as to why we couldn't get anyone in last summer. That's not to say that we didn't try behind closed doors. Or that we didn't have other strike options already present.
