Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira has shown promise in No 10 role but Bournemouth was a reminder United need a better creator in that position.

He’s made 12 chances this season, 49th best total in PL + one behind Paul Pogba who has been out for two months.

I had high hopes for this guy after his loan spell for Granada and Valencia, and was very happy to see him sign a new deal, but he’s been absolutely poor for a large part of this season.

I think when Gomes returns from injury, it’s time to give him a shot there. Man we miss Pogba though, our creativity is literally zilch without him.

Ole doesn't have many alternatives at the moment does he? And yes, we do need Pogba back. Plus at least one signing in January to get us to the end of the season in reasonable shape.
The players Ole inherited are being shown to be not good enough in the main. The three he has bought are.

Hard to really know how good he is or his potential when the team are such a mess. I think a problem is that through his key years developing it wasn’t ever clear where his best role is which is still true now. But saying that he’s generally been poor to average. Definitely not showing the quality needed to be fighting for top 4 let alone the title.

I think you're right about his development being screwed up a bit.

I said last season when he was in the team that he looked like a player suffering an identity crisis.

He came through the ranks as a technically gifted player that had a skill or trick in his locker, but seems to be trying to adopt the role or headless hatchet man. I'd admire his tenacity and work rate but he's not Herrera, even if his name is similar!

It was also interesting to see him developed briefly under Mourinho in that deeper role. He did really well there in preseason last summer, started the season excellently against Leicester and was then hooked at half time the following game and barely seen again until Ole came in. If he was ever going to be a player for us, that development had to continue last season but it didn't and it's clear that he isn't going to be the long term answer on the right or at #10 for us.

Ole decided to sell a lot of the players and then not replace them. Didn't he say he's happy with the squad. The players Ole has inherited may not be good enough to challenge for the title, but they're not as bad as 10th, its the coach's job to get the best out of the players they have, clearly failing atm. I don't understand this sentimentality, Lampard and Rogers have been in charge far less time than Ole, spent far less, Lampard also losing his best player, and they're 10 points ahead playing much better football and showing progression. What exactly is Ole showing. You can't just blame it all on the players. The manager and coaching has to take the blame too.

In my opinion, that's exactly where this squad should be, we've had a shocking injury record aswell, look around teams like Bmouth, Palace, Everton, all them teams have players who would walk straight into our first team at this moment in time.

There's no doubt Ole has made mistakes and there isn't really any evolution in our play that I can point to and say 'this is where we're going', however...

I don't think people who aren't regular watchers of United realise just how poor this team is. Despite the transfer ban and Hazard leaving, Chelsea have a much better midfield and attack than we do - midfield especially, attack a little closer. They aren't a million miles away in defence either - especially as they've been without Rudiger.

We'll finish mid-table because we only have two players who walk into most teams in Europe in Pogba & De Gea, and probably only another two or three players who get into most PL sides without much debate (Martial, Maguire, AWB). We have a squad full of mid-table players at best.

What Ole has done is identify good players to bring in and ones to ship out. The quantity of arrivals has been far too low, but the quality is there. So I think he's done well in the market so far and will leave us with better players if given time to have a couple more transfer windows. Whether he'll get us playing good football and competing is another matter entirely.

i think tenth with this squad is overachieving. half of the squad are championship players at best.

Interesting. I take it you think Ole is doing an absolutely fantastic job then?

The squad is poor, or we're made to believe it is because Ole can't do no wrong, he's a club legend...etc, I don't buy it. It's obvious there's no direction, leadership or any sort of tactical plan either on the pitch.

Good managers can make average players better, play as a team and have a plan on how to attack and defend, I see none of that. Its also the managers job to motivate the team, not only turn up for the big games like small clubs do, that's what we are at the moment, big game raisers.

We're gone from title contending team, to fighting for top four to mid table. Any more bad results and other results going against us and we in a relegation battle quarter of the way through the season. Ed and Glazers are very clever, they're using Ole as barrier because they know fans will not turn against a club legend.

It makes me laugh out loud when people write this, honestly
