Potential DoF interviewed?

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly held a “lengthy meeting" with Red Bull's chief Ralf Rangnick over a role at the club after talks were arranged by Ed Woodward.

The Red Devils are looking to employ a technical director or a director of football who would take charge of their transfer recruitment.

And the 61-year-old German appears to have been sounded out for the role, which has seen United legends Rio Ferdinand and Edwin van der Sar also linked.

Coach Rangnick is currently Red Bull's head of sport and development and oversees the brand's various clubs.

And The Athletic claim that United’s vice-chairman Woodward sent an official from Old Trafford to speak with the chief.

Rangnick has held roles as sporting director of both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig in recent years.

And when speaking to The Guardian previously, he has already outlined his desire to have great responsibility at United should he ever join them.

“Otherwise you are only getting half of what I am capable of.

“If, after that, you can work together in a trustworthy and respectful way, then you are more likely to be successful."

United have fallen dramatically since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 but hope Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the man to eventually lead them back to glory after the failed efforts of David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Rangnick added: “It’s always difficult to follow someone like Sir Alex Ferguson, who was so successful and in place for a long time – and that’s even harder if you are often changing coaches.

“With every coaching change, the identity changes and this is reflected in the sporting development.

“You can look at the money that team has had available in the last five years and say there has been an underperformance."

This sounds too much like a bit of proactivity from the club. So I suspect it’s ballacks.

Whats negative about me asking why Chelsea are doing far better than united so far?

Because you think our manager is the worst of the two.

Is that me being negative or is it simply a fact?

He won't get the control needed here due to Ed, so won't be coming. He's someone who would help build up the football side of things (whether Ole stays or he comes in as a manager). It still wouldn't be a quick fix though. We're still a few signings short and the younger players, depending on their development, could help with the process. 3 years I think if everything works to plan.
