Mctominay out for 4 weeks?

It's being speculated that scott will be missing for about 4 weeks. He's become a very important to us and will be a miss. So who should replace him in midfield. Garner seems the only option. Is Matic alive? Maybe him too.

At least it’s in central midfield, where our quality and depth is unrivalled.

It’ll be 3-4-3 surely.

Can you imagine how sharp Matic would be on the ball with his current level of match fitness...

When I think about Brexit, I get really depressed at the stupidity of it all. Then I remember our central midfield, and all of a sudden it doesn’t seem so bad.

I’d rather play Rojo or Jones in midfield than Matic. At least they’ll be able to move.

Is Pogba back?

No, you won't be seeing Pidier again until 2020.

He needs to play Lindelof in the DM role, he won’t just chuck Garner in at the deep end.

Lindelof looks a deer in headlights at CB, how the feck is he gonna handle the lack of space in CM?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He schits his pants when he’s the last man, he panics. I think he shows good positional awareness, to incept the ball and is tidy enough to distribute.

Even if McT was fit, common sense would dictate we play 532

-------------------------------------------

Given Sheffield United usually play 3-5-2 or some variation, common sense would dictate that we try to exploit the wide areas by overloading on their wing-backs and making use of any space if their wide CBs decide to join their attack.

Have you watched them play recently... Just about every team they've played tried this an it hasn't worked... In the mean time they've dominated their opponents during set pieces (where we are dross) and on the counter attack.

If we don't have 3 at the back for that game (as well as Spurs and City) we probably lose...

I've been looking forward to seeing what Axel can do and the poor lad gets injured - I hope to feck he's not the next Jones. We all had high hopes for Phil (Duncan Edwards) Jones and he turned into an embarrassing sicknote. Let's pray Axel fares better. If Axel is healthy, I'd hope he can play the #4, if not it'll have to be 5-3-2.

I don't think many teams have actually made good use of the wide areas against them.

Arsenal certainly didn't. They were pretty poor on the night and never really threw caution to the wind and really worked them. Spurs were too narrow.

The more space our forwards have to work in the better so stretching the pitch and playing with tempo in the final third could be key in disrupting Sheffield United's shape.

If we play too narrow it'll just play into their hands because our full-backs are pretty average offensively and we don't have the necessary creativity in the middle of the pitch to play through a team as compact as them and we'll just end up playing in front of them.

Saw Matic with his (very tall) wag at the game on Sunday vs Brighton

So yes he is still alive and been kept in cotton wool for the january sales I reckon.

Would hope Garner gets a game rather than Matic, at least he's had some action lately and will be more match fit.
